For the onions, after removing the skin I usually give it a good rinse under the tap and that works for me.

and I always cut my onions in front of my open window, fresh air is my cure and after your done, wash your hands as quickly as possible.

To avoid crying while chopping onions there are 2 very good tips:
1. Make sure your knife is very very sharp because if the knife isnt sharp u will just press down on the onion to much which will cause it to bleed even more

2. Keep the root on the onion it stops it from bleeding which makes you cry. =)

Mmmmm sammiches! Mmm meatballs! Day made. Thank you for this, Katie :D As for tear-free onion chopping, you can put the onions in the fridge or freezer beforehand for about 10 minutes, then chop in a well ventilated area. P.S. You're not crazy. I started yelling at that oven too :P

Hey Katie, I usually rinse the knife with cold water halfway through or before I tear up helps a lot, but in most cases I man up and cry chopping,

i made this and my family loved it! i used lamb mince instead of pork (my hubby doesn't eat pork) - it was delicious! :D
