Apple MagSafe Wireless Charger // Can It Charge Older Devices?

So Apple has had wireless charging on their phones since 2017, but they haven’t made a single wireless charger themselves. They had big hopes with AirPower, but that ultimately ended up being shelved for tons of issues.

Ever since then Apple has just sat out and never made another wireless charger, that was until now. Apple is going back to a classic charging technology they had. MagSafe! MagSafe was one of the best parts of a MacBook, I was so upset when they removed it in favor of only USB-C charging.

MagSafe is a magnetic charging solution that required you to get close the the charging port and it would automatically connect thanks to the magnets. It was more or less killed of in the last few years with no new Macs featuring it. However, the name is making a comeback, with Apple’s new wireless chargers. There are currently 2 wireless chargers that Apple plans on selling, the MagSafe and the MagSafe Duo. The duo will be able to charge two devices and can also be folded up. The MagSafe Duo hasn’t been made available for purchase yet, but I’ll try to cover it when it comes out.

For the time being we have the MagSafe which I’ll try out for the first time in this video and give you my thoughts on.

I am thinking of getting metal rings (the kind that are used to attach to the car mounts and see if it sticks (it should).

I think the main use is that it can charge and use the phone at the same time. I tried it with iphone SE and it is quite good experience (at least for me). If I can find good metal rings, i think this thing will work. I think this thing is Legit! I am liking it even though it is quite slow charging. The size is very small and build quality looks quite good.
