This was my first Rooney book and I liked it a lot. I found myself engaging with the characters and their struggles with unresolved grief and relationships. I will definitely pick up another book by her. Great review!

Hi Eric, I am currently reading Intermezzo by Sally Rooney. I am still in the first part of the novel and I am loving the deep dive into the characters. All the moments in time and conversations. I see that Rooney is a young woman yet she has a writing style of someone beyond her years. So far I am enjoying the novel and I am taking my time with it savoring it like a delicacy. I haven't read this one but I've found Rooney has a lot of more "Trinity College"-esque characters (more upper class or with 'notions'). I am currently reading The Amusements by Aingeala Flannery, have you heard of it? It's loosely connected slice-of-life stories of people from a small Irish seaside town, mostly working class people. I love the Irish style of storytelling, grounded with fleshed out characters.

I was very fortunate to get a proof copy of this and took it on holiday with me a few weeks ago. I thoroughly enjoyed the book especially the loving relationship between Peter and Sylvia. For me, certainly her best since Normal People

Thanks for the great review. I'm 1/4 of the way through this book, and I'm loving it. The writing is very rich, and I love how Rooney almost tells the story from inside each characters head. Particularly where the two brothers are so different, I find this even more impressive to be in their thoughts and their very different ways of thinking.
