Here are some anatomy things i learned

The upperarm(not including the shoulder stuff) and forearm should be roughly the same length

the head should generally be able to fit in the torso

the shoulders should roughly be able to fit two heads

the foot has the same length as the forearm

take these with a grain of salt since these are not really perfectly accurate and of course there are different body types that disobey these but I generally use them when I draw

please feel free to correct me if I made a mistake here, I am still learning, afterall

edit: Someone reminded me(thank you), foreshortening exists, basically, it's perspective when something looks bigger the closer it is to the viewer, this also makes some of the parts invisible or shorter, so take those in mind too.

Remember that these are just general proportion guides, so if you want to use foreshortening, you can simply try to imagine the body parts I talk about as a 3d object and rotate them in your mind, not easy I know, but you can do it.

Don't be afraid to use references, it's not cheating.

You can also trace other's artwork, that's totally fine as long as you don't post it as your own.

Let's all learn together and have fun in our journey and help each other when we need it.

I like to work in this order. Chest -> wast -> limbs -> hands & feet -> neck -> head -> face -> deatail. I do this becose I find it easier to base the head on the body then the body on the head.

either I'm getting slightly better at anatomy art or youre really good at explaining. either way, this made making fan art so much more similar, definitely saved to my helpful art tutorial playlist

Aaaand ofc, remember to study anatomy. But not just the "boxes and spheres" anatomy. You HAVE to learn MUSCLE RULES to understand fully what your doing. Ik it sounds boring and stuff, but you don't have to know the name of each freaking muscle, just know where some important muscles are, like neck muscles, calf, torso etc. Understand and taking time to find patterns made me suddenly jump 3 steps ahead. And obviously mostly I learned with Marc, redrawing and studying his art helped me like crazy

Could you do another video making the mannequin into a character? I usually findbit hard to define some portions in th body such as the inbetween legs, waist, feet. Would be really helpful!

I prefer a square shape bulged at the center for the upper torso and for the lower one i use a trapezium FOR MALES!

Two things:

***The male mannequin now
***dynamic poses with this mannequin

Problem is that a static pose is not always appealing. So, if one were to create a scene with a character they would need to understand basic anatomy, perspective, foreshortening rules and how to draw a 3D shape. Your videos are always helpful. Thank you!
