ABOUT: I saved my first $100,000 before 26, it took me a while to here starting at just $12 an hour when I was 19. This video shows the most important thing about HOW to actually get there by adopting a frugal mindset, and investing to create passive income by buying dividend stocks that will eventually generate a snowball effect of compound interest. This is my story from 19, to 30 and how long it took to build save each $100K.

This is solid advice. I was on a similar path and had a similar amount of money at your age.

I started saving at 18, literally saving 50% of my income from my very first paycheck. I put that money into the stock market. This was around 2008 right before the big stock crash...so I literally watched the few grand I had saved drop by 50%....which was a kick in the pants but I countered it by investing even more to recover the losses. I sold most of my childhood collectible items as well. BTW, my income during this time never exceeded $12/hr so I was basically making crap money. If you are making crap money then the key is to live as cheaply as possible. Living with parents is biggest cost savings by far. Also go to a cheap college to study a good major is also a wise idea since it will increase your income to at least 50k/year (STEM, law, health only majors). Now I am 29 years old and my net worth just rolled over 350k. The vast majority of this money came from what they call capital appreciation...the value of the stocks I had bought have increased in value. All dividends from the portfolio were reinvested immediately.

My next goal is to have a million in net worth by the time I am 40.

PS: for those wondering, this is all self-made net worth. I did not have any inheritance or similar. All of the money in my stock portfolio is from money I made from working and the capital appreciation. Only help I got was from parents not charging me rent. Parents also had saved nothing for my college...so I paid for all of that with cash from working.

Like you said, "When money gets to a certain point like a $100, 000.00 dollar mark, it starts to work for you often times faster than you can save your money yourself because the more money you have the more money it compounds into."
