It's common to assume that 5% nicotine is less harmful than 12% nicotine. But that's not true. In the case of vaping vs smoking, 5% proves to be much more harmful than 12%.

0:06 - 5% nicotine Vs. 12% nicotine, which one's more harmful?

Vaping is neither a safer nor a better version of smoking. Instead, it's just an alternative. Smoking involves lighting a tobacco pipe to inhale the generated smoke. While vaping, a person inhales the nicotine vapour from a battery-operated device which is activated with puffing.

0:32 - Vaping is the action or practice of inhaling and exhaling vapour containing nicotine produced by a device
1:12 - In vapes, puffing activates the battery-powered heating device, which vaporizes the liquid in the cartridge
1:37 - Vaping is harmful to your lung and heart health
Vaping is a more addictive and convenient form of nicotine consumption. Unlike cigarettes, vaping devices are easy to use, turning them lethal for smokers.
2:36 - It is the convenience that is killing the smoker
The convenience of usage makes the vaper consume nicotine throughout the day, which makes vaping more dangerous than smoking.
2:47 - It is a constant nicotine provider for the body
3:04 - 12% nicotine in a cigarette is less harmful than the 5% in vapes
Much like cigarettes, vaping is equally harmful to the user. The enhanced absorption, easy availability, and variety of flavours pave the way for a higher dependency on vaping.
3:47 - Be it vaping or smoking, both are harmful to the human body

Frequently Asked Questions [FAQs]

Q. What is the difference between vaping and smoking?
A. According to Dr Virad Kumar from Apollo 24|7, in terms of the ill effects of nicotine, both vaping and smoking are equally harmful. In smoking, the person inflames the pipe containing tobacco which releases nicotine smoke. In vaping, on the other hand, an indivual puffs into the battery-operated device comprising nicotine cartridges, leading to vapour generation for consumption.

Q. Which one is a safer choice between vaping and smoking?
A. As per the ENT specialists in Noida, in vaping vs smoking, none are safe for the body. Additionally, due to the easy consumption and variety of flavour choices, vaping is more addictive and harmful to every person.

Q. How does vaping affect the lungs?
A. The nicotine-infused vapours are directly absorbed by the lungs to channel into the bloodstream. Due to the presence of nicotine, the body releases adrenaline, which increases the pulse rate along with blood pressure. Regular consumption increases the chances of heart attacks and lung disorders.

Q. Where can I consult an ENT specialist in Noida for lung diagnosis after smoking addiction?
A. You can visit Apollo 24|7 to receive the medical attention required for lung repair after chronic vaping. We offer expert assistance from the best ENT Specialists in Noida to provide treatment depending on the severity of the disease.

Q. Does vaping help in reducing smoking addiction?
A. No. Vaping acts as an alternative method to consume nicotine. Even though it provides a relatively safer option because of the absence of smoke inhalation, the easy usage makes it more addictive and harmful.

Q. Which one is more harmful between smoking and vaping in the long run?
A. Smoking is more harmful than vaping due to the enhanced risk of smoke inhalation. That being said, in the long run, chronic vaping is equally and sometimes more damaging because of the enhanced absorption of nicotine with vapours.

I'm sorry to say but Dr saab I used vaping as a substitute to quit cigarettes and within a month I saw the difference in my stamina plus the cilia in my lungs were back in action after quitting cigarette and all the mucus was thrown out ( ofcourse I was coughing for few weeks but that's the way of lungs telling you thank you now I'm going to clear the trash that cigarette wasn't letting me to) and gradually I opted for lesser power of nicotine in vape to gradually come down to zero and quit both altogether. The problem with people like you is you guys are definitely working in tandem with tobacco industry bcus if people quit cigarettes with help of vaping then it hits not just the tobacco lobbys pockets it hits the hospital pockets too....lesser the smokers lesser cancer and lesser revenues right?? Vaping is banned in India'since 2019 but why a much more harmful killer like tobacco or cigarette is not...think about it guys. I'm not promoting either but yes vaping provided me a bridge to cross away from cigarette and finally reach home without any smoke of any sort.

Best is quitting cigarettes. But vaping is much much less harmful than cigarette. The main issue is risk of cancer from cigarette smoke. Vaping contains vapours and not smoke so the concentration of carcinogens is much much lower than cigarette smoke. Both are addictive because they contain nicotine. Other measures used to quit smoking like gums and skin patches also contain nicotine. Selling cigarettes makes a lot of money for the companies making it that could b one reason for strong lobbying to ban vaping. Vaping should b regulated but banning vaping when smoking is legal doesn't make any sense

But nicotine isn't at all that harmfull, it is all the combustibles and Tarr... That is the problem. Nicotine is relatable to cafeïne, so let's ban coffee! As well...

the real problem with vaping is what the good doc said here. user is vaping a lot more times and volume than he would've smoked. if a user could stick to the exact routine he did while he was smoking would've been kind of beneficial. but vaping takes out lot of difficulty out of it like having to go to a smoking area which is probably out of a building most of the time(most of people doesn't like to hang outside all the time so they do it less often unless you smoke in the car or something) then you do have to find something to light the cigarrette i've noticed good percentage of smokers doesn't own their own lighter or loses it all the time. then theirs the smell (breath and clothes you wear). all of these factors are taken out when you start vaping so the tendency is to vape a lot more volume than actual smoking which in turn makes you inhale a lot more nicotine plus other chemicals produced when the liquid is burned into vapour.

nicotine is not that harmful, its the smoke that does the damage, vaping might not be 100% safe but it is far better then smoking & that's a fact. In 1976, Professor Michael Russell wrote: “People smoke for nicotine but they die from the tar” its the harmful chemicals in the tar that comes from the inhaled smoke that does the most damage.

The video fails to answer the question it intended to.. its a better alternative for smokers.. it was never marketed as safe.. its just safer to its counterpart..

Ok but no one said it is healthy, rather healthier (than cigarettes). And the difference is enormous. It’s a great clutch to completely quit smoking and get rid of nicotine dependence. This doctor should grow a conscience before spreading a biased narrative that suits his fraternity.
