Electronic Cigarettes and Vaping

preview_player
Показать описание
People have been smoking for at least 7,000 years, but it wasn't until the 1800s that cigarettes became the smoke of choice, after machines were developed to mass produce them. 200 years later, in 2003, the electronic cigarette was invented in China. Since then, the use of e-cigarettes, also known as vaping, has grown exponentially around the world.

I assume it is like this:
E-cigs are SAFER than regular cigs, and a good gateway for chronic smoker to stop smoking, maybe slowly.
But not smoking is FAR SAFER than any forn of smoking.

I love commercials like these, they always bring up the same points that have been debunked over and over again

2:10 - 2:11 "e-cigarettes contain many other chemicals to generate enticing flavors" there are the same thing I use in culinary arts to get flavors.

This is THE BEST video to show youth. Thank you! Our kiddos nowadays have short attention spans so you have to make what you are presenting interesting in a short period of time. YOU GUYS DID IT BEAUTIFULLY!!!

That said, vaping is way less harmful than smoking so try to switch to vaping if you’re a smoker.

0:19 "in 2003 the electronic cigarettes were invented in China"
1:18 "there just hasn't been enough time" but we have new technologies that can do more work than 7, 000 years ago.

You know the battery is just as the one in your phone, and it explodes only if short circuits occur or in high temps, not randomly, right?

Everyone check your juice bottles. I have noticed that many companies do not show the ratio of pg to vg. If you buy a ratio you feel comfortable in it should also be on the bottle.

O dear, I got to do a Bullshit fact check. There is quite a lot, so I focus on the main once.
1. Formaldehydes practically are not coming from vaping. The only way to get formaldehyde from vapour is if you dry puff it. This means the setting is too high for the coil it has, it burns the coil without being able to get enough liquid in the coil to vaporise, or if there is no liquid in the vape while heating it up. So in a lab, you could create a situation were you get formaldehyde, but in reality, no one uses it like this. It simply hurts and tastes awful. Basically, you could say chicken causes cancer because if you burn it and eat it it is bad. So formaldehyde argument is bullshit

2. There is no Diacetyl in e-liquids. This has been banned for already years. Liquids have PG, VG nicotine or not, and a FDA approved food flavour product which we use and consume on a daily basis. You know what does have Dialetyl in them, cigarets, and in much greater amounts then what vapours us to have. And even then, there is and has never even been any smoking-related case of popcorn lung in the decades or research in smoking.... a dammit, to the point, there is no diacetyl in e-liquid so this is simply irrelevant and misinformation.

3. Batteries rarely explode for no reason. Just like with phones, e-bikes or whatever battery-driven device (yes also that one in your pocket right now) always have the potential to explode if you charge it wrongly. Like you leave it charging overnight while it is already full, or you use it on a power source which peeks to high. But even then, the amount of times it does explode is fairly rare but is due to wrong usages. Another reason why batteries can explode is if they are unprotected outside the device in, for example, a pocket with coins. that is just stupid but can happen with everything. It has nothing to do with vaping perse, but general battery safety for everything.

4. Vapour industrie is not big tobacco. while it is true that BAT owns Blue, PM has the heat not burn (not a vape or e-cigaret) and Juul is in shares now recently owned by a tobacco company (not its origin), the vast majority are independent shops. Most vape shop owner were smokers themselves but was able to quit by vaping. Vapours are very passionate about this and have put their money where their mouth is, so they got in the vaping industry to help smokers making the switch. Most vapours don't like big tobacco, as they have been abused by them, so they prefer to give their money to someone else.

5. adults like flavours. It is simply very short-sighted to suggest that if something has sweet or fruity flavours, it must be targeted to kids. Adult smokers who switch from smoking to vaping will get their sence of taste back quickly, and it is then when the notice how awful tobacco flavours are. They need something nice to stay vaping and away from relapsing into smoking. Ask yourself this, or fruity flavours beers or spirits, Bacardi cola, vodka Redbull, targeted for teens or do adulds like that too? So why must vaping be different from that? You could argue teens will not be interested in getting a flavour from a vape, while they could get flavours legally (depending on their age) to just simply by a soda, candy or whatever. Would they really by an expensive device with nicotine to taste a strawberry? That doesn't make any sense. They do it for a high, a nicotine buzz which you can get from a high nicotine amount. In the US this is possible with 50mg nicotine. in the EU 20mg is the legal max allowed and this does not give you a buzz. Hence there is no teen vaping anywhere in the world, but the US, even though there are flavours everywhere.

6. We don't know everything. This is true, but we do know a lot. All product have to be registered what is in them. There is no mystery of the content. We have a good idea of what these substances do and comparing that to smoking, we know it is at least 95% less harmfull from smoking cigarets.

7. just a fun fact. Non-smokers also consume nicotine, they just don't know it (you junkies). Nicotine can be found in, for example, cauliflower, potato, eggplant, exc. we are all a bunch of heroine like junkies right XD??? No worries, nicotine on its own is indeed addictive, but far less than when it is in cigarets, as cigarets enhance the addictive characters of nicotine greatly. On its own, it is not comparable to heroin or cocaine. It is more like caffeine. This is why the switch from cigarets to vaping requires a high nicotine amount (20mg more then enough) to eas what is missing, but vapors can quickly and easly bring this down to 12, 6, 3 or 0.
