The fastback has gotten so much work done for me. As a maintenance guy, always doing 5 different jobs in one day, the driver with changeable bit is so clutch, and the action on the blade is impeccable

My guess is that if you were removing the blade from storage to replace the old blade, you could remove the used blade first to address the safety concerns.

I've been using and abusing the Kobalt for about 2 years. I used it every single day, never leave home without it. However, after seeing the video about the Milwaukee about 2 weeks ago I went out and bought it just because of the screw driver. It may seem silly but it has already come in handy a hand full of times.
I will say the opening action doesn't feel different to me, I can pull either one out of my pocket and open it in one smooth action. I actually prefer the clip on the Milwaukee though, it feels stronger. My Kobalt clip is stretched pretty bad and doesn't grip my pocket anymore, I believe the Milwaukee will hold up a little better over time.

The Compact Milwaukee Fastback is by far the best utility knife. Its slim and without all the extra gadgets.

The bottle opener is the most important feature, who needs knifes, screw drivers, or anything else, if you can’t drink beer on the job how’s it going to get done.

As a construction worker I like the newest kobalt speed release the best. It doesn't have wire cutters but I don't ever need to cut wires so that's fine for me, the release action is smooth as butter, it has the 3 blade storage in the back and feels great in hand. And the knife and 10 blades come with it for only $15. However for an electrician I think Milwaukee is better. It all just depends on what you need it to do.

I love my Milwaukee Fast Back so much, I gave it to my nephew and bought another one. I can cut with it, tighten two types of screws with it, carry a spare blade AND when the work is done, open a cold beer.

I like all the features in the milwaukee, the bottle opener is cool. I use the fastback around the house all the time. Mainly for tightening things with the screwdrivers, opening boxes from the mail (mainly from the wife), and once in a while I open a beer or two just for the hell of it. I tell you what, it comes in handy around christmas time, for sure.

Having used them all on a daily basis for years(plumber), I now consistently buy the red tool shop version.(menards).Main reason is the price and size. Its cheap and small. It works just fine and Menards replaces it free, I take it in when the screws start loosening. Price is a major consideration for me because this is the tool I lose the most! It also opens smooth after about a week or so, out of the box it wont though.

The Kershaw Select Fire (1920) is basically the pocket knife version of this tool and I love it. It's nice having the screwdriver/nut driver built in so you don't have to use your blade as a screwdriver, and it holds 4 standard size bits while the Milwaukee has the extra long double ended bit that would be harder to replace. The Milwaukee looks like a great option for a utility knife though.

I appreciate you up date. I see what you mean about the blade being in the way when you are removing the spare blade. I simply take the old blade out first. Happy Holidays

Yeah I use to deliver appliances at lowes ironically and bought that same knife one Black Friday in a combo pack with another kobalt pocket knife. That knife was my number 1 tool delivering appliances because of the amount of cardboard we cut in a day, and it never let me down once. Still have the knife to this day and use it on occasion being a lineman now. Only 2 complaints I have is once in a while the button will get really weird feeling when pressing it, like a spring of metal wires behind it are getting tangled, but spinning the button fixes it. Other complaint is the clip would often get bent catching on random things though the day, but my channel locks quickly bent it back into shape.

I use the simpler Milwaukee 1501 - no screwdriver no extra blade. It is more compact and comparing them in the tool shop I went for the thinner model because it fits just right in my pocket. I also like it because it screams tool as opposed to weapon which tends to keep the pantywaists from wetting themselves. The Kobalt is interesting, but the Milwaukee is superb. Just used it to install vinyl plank flooring and it worked well.just the best utility knife I’ve ever owned.

I GOT TWO COBALTS A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO. ONE CAME IN A BONUS PACKAGE WITH A POCKET KNIFE THAT OPENS THE SAME WAY THEY HAVE BEEN GREAT NO PROBLEMS AT ALL. I HAVE TO GIVE IT TO COBALT. I'VE HAD MILWAUKEE ALSO, BUT THEIR WIRE STYLE POCKET CLIPS BEND VERY EASILY IF YOU GET IT CAUGHT ON SOMETHING. ALL AROUND THE COBALT JUST FEELS BETTER IN THE HAND. IT'S ALOT MORE COMFORTABLE.

FastBack wins for me. Was working landscaping in Vancouver, Canada! Slushy rain and salt From ocean will deteriorate most anything.
I was lucky enough to find a 1st Gen fastback while planting (IN THE GRUND, cornered in soil.) washed off it instantly worked like new. I still have that fastback. And many more. 10YRS later.
Although I would like to see a comparison with the BOSCH lookalike!!

Just picked up a Milwaukee 6+1. On mine, the spare blade is loose, held in place by the metal tab. So, if tab down and you push the tab in, the blade just falls partially out. Super easy. Love this thing.
