At 10:20 I mentioned that you want to have a 550W PSU minimum if you're going to have similar specs to mine, and while in my case at stock you the peak power consumption never exceeded ~400W, having more headroom is always better. If you can, get at least a 600W PSU for a build like R5 5600 + RX 6800 & 32 GB of RAM.

I have this card with a 5800X3D and 32 gig of DDR4 3600 with SAM enabled. Nothing stops it really. I have no reason to look at GPUs until the RX 8000 series. I won't pay Nvidia prices so my next card will most likely be AMD.

RTX 3070 (Ti) might be faster in raytracing but then it will always run out of videomemory with the latest games. So that argument no longer holds any value...

the 6800 is probably the best card of the last generation in terms of balancing price, performance and power draw.

You helped my decision in October last year to go AMD for the first time since my ATI 9800 xt haha. I bought a sapphire 7900xtx nitro, absolutely no regrets.

How it is possible that most videos with rx 6800 are 20-25% slower than my gpu? I have the same setup with ryzen 5600 and sorry but i won't believe in this bs video. for example Jedi survivor high setting 1440p has less fps than my gpu has on EPIC settings. HOW? As I said, your video is bs. Better try next time.

your core clock is really low, not sure if you lowered it intentionally but my 6800 came at 2.25 ghz stock
this card oc's potential is insane and you'd probably get an extra 20% performance running it at something like 2.4 ghz compared to this

By the way if the 6800 faces CPU bottlenecks in some scenarios things would be worse if you replace it with an Nvidia card cause of the driver overhead. People should never forget the Nvidia tax - and anyway the cheaper Nvidia cards seconhand are cause many people are having to replace them now.

Previously, I didn't care so much about the amount of video memory because I just played 1080 until I got a crash on Hogwarts lecagy with my 3070 TI.

Yups.. GPU can actually still get more than 60 fps with RT on, but the game always crashed after 5 minutes. Then I saw the video memory utilization is 7500 mB, or near the maximum available.

At the first time the game is running, it only uses around 4-5 GB of video memory, then increases up to 7.5 GB before it crashes.

Then I try with my RX6800XT 16GB, the game using video memory around 11-12GB. So for my next card, the amount of video memory becomes more important in consideration.

Having worked with about every 6000 series GPU I would make a couple recommendations.

Undervolt - The 6800 from what I understand can run stable around 900 mV, you may have to test + 50 to get it perfectly stable. This will drop the power usage 30-40 watts, running a little cooler, and more then likely result in more stable clocks, all without having to crank that power slider to max(which is still an option if you want to crank up Mhz).

GPU Ram - 6000 series cards LOVE ram speed & better timings. On all of the non 50 variants I set the ram to +100 and set Faster Timing. As long as its stable this will result in 3 - 6 FPS jump on its own. Sometimes you can only get one of these to work, in this case you will have to test if the +100 or the faster timing works better for your card.

Mhz - In your testing the card is running very cool, I think I saw a max of 65c, and if you undervolt that is going to go down some more. You have head room to get more speed out of the card for sure. This is an area that is tricky and why I mention it last. You have to find the sweet spot, too little Mhz you leaving performance untapped, too much and you are generating extra heat and power draw for nothing. On my 6900xt 2450 gets me a 22000 time spy score, pushing it further only resulted in a loud more power hungry card and no gains, it ran stable at nearly 2700 Mhz but this was pulling 330 watts compared to my sweet spot settings which only pulls about 260, I think my score went up about 2%, not worth it.

Ball parking I would guess 2250 min - 2350 max, 2100 ram speed with Fast Timings, 950 mV. With these settings the power slider might not even make a difference in performance but I would test it to be 100%.

Selling the 5600 and getting a used 5700x for 30 buck upgrade. It won't be near the level of the 5700x3d or 5800x3d but least you highly limit hyperthreading as you go over 50% utilisation much less . I probably wouldn't buy an 8gb card as games can definitely pull more than that and especially with RT so productivity id probably go 4070 12gb .

Firstly, the XFX Rx6800 Merc is a gorgeous GPU 🥰🤯👍!
Secondly, imo, AMD gpus need to be ~ 30% cheaper at every performance tier to get my money as for me, Ray Tracing and DLSS are an essential for my gaming requirements and AMDs GPU upscaler is a noticeable downgrade compared to DLSS and the financial offset at 30% would entice me to try their GPU over Nvidia.

Speak of the devil. This video came out right as I'm in the talks about buying a 6800 xt for $400 cad ($294 usd)

What is crazy to me is that Nvidia found a way to make people pay for a feature that kills your fps and give you less vram but pay significantly more money for it meanwhile, AMD gives your faster gpus with more vram that are more future proof but people by Nvidia for features like DLSS which came out to combat the poor performance of Ray tracing. The problem is the vram will always be an issue because games will get more demand as time goes on and vram will be king. I have a Rx 6800 16gb and this card is insane. I love the card and I am future proofed and it does not do to bad with ray tracing if a game I am playing has it. I am never willing to kill my fps for shiny objects on the screen. It makes no real sense to me. I would rather native res with optimized settings for the best frame rate to fidelity I can get. I got my card for 315 and do not regret it at all. Great card.

Bought a reference 6800 used for $320 about a year ago. Hasn't dropped in value and I play everything I want at 3440x1440 144hz. I can't justify blowing spending the crazy money needed to get a significant performance jump

Just got one request. Show 1% low FPS too next time.

i rarely invest my money on AAA games and still went with a 6800 non xt. You could say i "futureproofed" my build since i only play indies and smaller scale games. This card is gonna be enough for my use case for another 4-5 years at least, so pretty much when AMD will stop updating the drivers

I have a 6800xt with a 10900k with 64GB 4400 cl 15, ddr4. I swear it's like it's 2011 all over again. 10900k is the new sandy bridge. And the 6800xt is the new HD 7870. I still have that rig. I7 2600k 32gb DDR3 2400, and the ole Asus 7870 direct cu II.
