The owner of Utopia Bagels brought tears to my own eyes when he got emotional. The love he has for his craft is equal to the compassion and gratitude he has for the staff that keep the community provided in happiness.

I loved the part about the Japanese school lunches. The philosophy around it is so logical - the idea about preparing not just what children want but what they need - to help them develop their palate, for health, and to learn what a healthy diet looks like for when they become the person responsible for feeding a family - just fantastic. I wish our culture cared as much about our young people.

Japan's cleanliness and philosophy is on a different level. Their care for the youth should be the standard for the whole world.

the indian temple amazed me. The sheer amount of genirosity of this place to feed all those people at any time. I couldnt imagine anywhere doing something this large scale in the west every day for years at any time!

Is Daniel paid as a professional?!? Does he have healthcare, can he live on what he makes?!? These workers are awesome! I hope they are treated like the professionals they are.

I currently work in a Japanese school and get to eat school lunch (kyuushoku) every day. It's truly amazing. The food quality is on par with family restaurants, and you know you're getting something healthy and delicious with each meal. Our school is equipped with an insanely large kitchen with at least ten nutritional workers to prepare food for 300+ students and teachers. They take great pride in their meals, and often have special weeks where they highlight a certain food from the region (we get a lot of onion dishes, lol) and its truly a treat every single time. American lunches can never compare

In college I was awoken by classmates outside my door, who insisted I come with them to get fresh bagels. It was 4 am. They explained that FRESH bagels were only available at 6 hours drive away. We went. Two carloads of college students. We were waiting outside when the owner opened the door. Best bagels I've ever had, still hot from the oven. I'd like to jump right through the screen and taste THESE bagels!

I love that the Sikhs have free food available at all times. What a wonderful place, don’t know of any other religion that encourages or does it… Also the carefully planned and made meals for the schools in Japan is very impressive. Never mind the American dream

Respect to the man not automatizing the process, but keeping his staff just to provide them with a job. Hats off to people who put community first before profit.

People who can do a job like rolling bagels for years amaze me. They must be happy there. They're clearly very good at it.

The Japanese School lunches was amazing. You see the stark difference in cleanliness versus all the others. They're dressed like they're in a sanitized zone and are about to lay silicon disks for CPU dies, lol. Incredible.

It's insane to see how much effort other countries put into school lunches. My school lunch from k-12 was usually a $2.50 slice of pizza and a Coke... I didn't learn to cook/eat/enjoy "healthy" food until I was halfway through college.
