The fact that Mirage Island is full of Wynaut is a hilarious answer to the question the player will inevitably ask once they realize nothing special is there: "Why have this incredibly difficult to find island in the game if there's nothing special there in the first place?!?"

Mew under the truck was the first rumor I remember hearing about as a kid. I tried using strength on every single tile to move it. And then to find out later I had access to Mew through a glitch. Mind-blowing.

Way back in the day my brother was playing Pokémon soul silver, and he showed me something real strange. He was grinding outside of the sprout tower and he encountered a lv 100 bellsprout. He showed me the encounter and we both witnessed his team get sweeped by it since it was quite early in the game. Sadly we couldn’t take a picture or video because we didn’t have a camera or phone back then since we were just kids. To this day we haven’t seen or heard anyone else encounter something like that, but I swear to you it was real

A really nice change of pace from the usual competitive pokemon content. Actually, on that note, an iceberg for competitive pokemon also sounds really fun. A list of scandals, successful gimmicks or meta calls that took everyone by surprise, quirks in the competitive format that weren't resolved until much later, etc

A note on the pokemon war:
There are very few middle aged men in kanto in the original games. There are old men, and boys, The young men are seen as part of team rocket and any men Surge's age are all in biker gangs which roam from celedon to fuschia (possibly a lot of them are veterans). Lance seems quite young to be the strongest trainer in all of kanto, and why is Prof. Oak in charge of the pokemon league? (the dude's like 75)

Additionally, the architecture and culture in Kanto is that of the postwar economic boom the united states had in the 1950s. The mainland of kanto is dominated by the saffron metropolitan area and its suburbs. Much like Earthbound, this game was influenced by post WW2 westernization and chose to make that its setting.

Thirdly, why was mewtwo being created? what was the purpose of expending exorbitant amounts of funding and time into crafting a genetically modified mentally unstable killing machine? To end the war. The last group of men you meet in gen 1 is the scientists which work at silph co. or worked at the pokemon mansion.

Just some interesting details.

My favorite glitch from Gen 1 was encountering Pokemon above Level 100! After talking to the old man that shows how to catch Pokemon in Virdian City, fly down to Cinnabar Island, immediate move right to the edge of the island, surf up and down along the edges. Thanks Wolfey for bringing back the awesome nostalgia and mysteries :D

I remember feeding unlimited rare candy to my missing no and getting a level 1 kangaskhan. Only knew dizzy punch. Only level 1 pokemon at the time. After achieving I felt I achieved everything. Then I tried the Abra mew glitch. Been 10 years since and i stand by poke blue as the best game ever
