The Eevee/dog thing got shot down b/c the beta dex has the 3 beasts in their beta form. Also before Lugia was put in their was another possible legendary in a silver lion beast, the one of the Cryptodex logo, whose dex entry is close to Ho-Ohs. Which leads to the new ongoing theory that Ho-Oh was meant to lead the 3 birds & this silver beast the 3 dogs

My first time playing Pokemon Gold, I caught a shiny Lapras in a cave on crazy, blind luck.

But since I got it after the red Gyrados, for like 20 years, I always just assumed that the Lapras I got back then was a guaranteed shiny since it was just hanging out in the water like Gyrados was. 11-year-old me would've lost his mind if he'd known the truth.

I fell in love with the flute sound the first time i played pokemon arceus on the switch, that game got me in to pokemon, after that i got pokemon violet, i got Arceus a bit before violet came out meaning i just got in to pokemon like a year or 2 ago. I just got a gameboy like a week ago to play the old pokemon games and just yesterday night i found a real copy of sylver on line for sale so i had to get it, it arrives between june 3 - june 6 and im very excited to play the old games as a new fan

21:24 Did You Know Gaming found out this Iwata story is largely overblown and digging through Gen 2's data "reveals that Iwata did write an algorithm for Gold & Silver, but it actually decreased the amount of storage space by a few percentage points. In other words, Kanto made it into Gen 2 in spite of his algorithm. They could've added even more real estate if they stuck with Gen 1's algorithm...".
Iwata's algorithm was built for speed and "saves a fraction of a second at the start of the battle, another fraction when the Pokemon come out, and lots of other places. Basically, it all comes down to faster load times" Iwata literally calls it a 'high speed' algorithm in the code. The real reason Game Freak could squeeze Kanto in was because they literally doubled the cartridge size from half a megabyte to one.

I remember as a kid when pkmn like whooper got leaked and how it blew my mind. A classmate of mine had pkmn silver with a caught lugia on his copy and that was impressive to me. The whole pkmn silver/gold ( I had gold ) era was a vibe. Crystal felt somehow different, like a completion. It felt like freedom. I never forget it, its burned in my memories.

Lake of rage radio isn't mysterious isn't the whole thing of the story there team rocket was broadcasting a radio signal to evolve pokemon early or something.

Also anti piracy thing is only triggered on old inaccurate emulators and was worked around with cheat codes or edited roms but with new more accurate emulators like melonds it won't trigger. It is in fact so good it tricks some still online nintendo features into thinking the emulator is a real ds, you can download a frimware update for example. It wasn't for emulators mainly anyways it was for you know pirated copies.

Bro I’ve watched a decent amount of gold and silver videos and somehow they never mentioned a ton of stuff you did. Like for example they never talked about the Vietnam release. This was such a fascinating video and I loved it! 🙂

Edit: I also watched a video explaining what ACTUALLY is the legendary “dogs” based off of. They asked the guy that designed them and he said himself that he based them on the cat family. So your point on eveee makes even more sense considering eveee and it’s evolutions are cat like as well but more a house cat.
