Folks!
Just remember to never protect upholstery completely when you spray paint...

The over spray on the fabric was a nice touch

Glue alone would have worked just fine. Looks great.

That support is now stronger than the entire chair.

Are we not going to talk about the overspray and darkening the backrest?

A glue joint is actually stronger than the wood. Nails and screws aren not just overkill but might also weaken the joint. In this case glue and clamps are enough

This man can fix anything...wonder if he can fix our broken society

All he needed was wood glue, two clamps and a wet rag

I think you could avoid all the refinishing with a more careful glue job. If the break is clean enough, the glue joint is as strong or stronger than the wood.
That said, you did an awesome job getting the paint match. Wow.

Your color matching skills are godlike bro

You shouldn’t have to use screws!!!!

Wood glue is extremely strong. Let it coat both surfaces the glue is on. Let it dry alo most completely THEN stick the surfaces together and clamp. Shits stronger than nails. I would know because my teacher had me do this in carpentry class and when we realized it was glued incorrectly we couldn’t bang it apart for our lives. shit had to be sawed

Bro. You DO NOT NEED SCREWS if you are using WOOD GLUE!!!

This is not how you repair a wood split. This is how you use as much metal as possible in an application you don’t need too.

Have you ever seen how strong wood glue is? So long as you have a decent surface area. You can completely forgo the wood screws And brad nails.

The glue would've been enough on its own.. those nails do shit and the screws probably made it weaker

Colour matching out of this world!
Overspray on upholstery and unnecessary screws were disheartening though.

With the break at a nice angle like that, plenty of surface area. No nails nor screws necessary. I'm a pro restorer.

I’m not trashing your repair, it was nicely done and will definitely hold up but the nails and screws were unnecessary. As a woodworker I can say that a properly glued joint is stronger than wood itself. It would have been fine with just glue 😊

Sold as new. Bring it home then sit in for first time and wonder why I am suddenly staring at the ceiling. 😂

All those nails and screws weaken the joint. Better to use tightbond 3 and clamp only
