He should have asked for $30, 000. Rick would have called in an appraiser who would have came in at $15, 000 and maybe the guy could have gotten the $12, 500 he was asking for.

He did the right thing, that photo is worth a lot more in auction in a few years. He'll probably get double or more of what Rick offered. Pawn shop is always a bad bad deal, use only if you need the money for an emergency.
