Another element to this valid assessment is trust, something HBO has sacrificed for the sake of monetization. The reason to even make this show is already shaky, as It is a road to nowhere plot..

I'm extremely cautiously optimistic for the following reasons:
- Dan and Dave are in absolutely no way involved.
- The book this is based on is already finished.

I hope that, if/when the final books come out and the story is over and we know how it ends, that we get an full cover-to-cover *animated* adaptation of the series.
There's just so many things about the settings and the character details and the spectacle that would be absolutely perfect for animation. The magic, the dragon riding, the direwolves, all could would be integrated seamlessly into the world and ugh it breaks my heart just thinking about it.

I completely understand your lack of enthusiasm, *Quinn.* I'm struggling with this myself for a different reason. For the same reason I cannot re-watch the TV show.

I found the first three or four seasons to be phenomenal. Yet it's decline into becoming maddeningly stupid makes re-watching even those earlier seasons not only pointless, but a heartbreaking exercise, as it constantly reminds me of what's to come.

The only positive to come of the show's downfall was that it prompted me to read the books. But I really hate starting something so all-consuming as these novels when it has yet to be completed.

While I'm not super stoked, at the very least I can say this: this story is already written and complete, AND it has a satisfactory ending.
Since this is the case, I'll probably check it out. And who am I kidding ASOIAF is my favourite book series.

What I loved about Fire & Bloof is we are give multiple scenarios on how events happened, the show will make a single canon choice and I have no doubt they'll make up there own instead.

I have to wonder if GRRM is consulting on this show like he did with the earlier seasons of GoT. IMO most of the problems with the latter seasons can be laid squarely at the feet of D&D.

If D&D aren’t involved I’m willing to give this the same chance I’m giving Foundation, namely 3-4 episodes before I decide if I like it enough to finish. I already have an HBO Max subscription, so it’s not like I’m having to go out of my way to see it.

Targaryen Civil War is one of the most fascinating stories in the whole ASOIAF world. And this show has nothing to do with GoT, since the material for Dance of the Dragons is already completed. It has nothing at all to do with the Winds of Winter too.

Rhaenyra's story is basically Dany's: she's the rightful heir, she has might on her side, she does something stupid, and dies. I'm not interested in seeing it again.
