MQTT Basic Course - Lesson 1: What is MQTT?

MQTT is currently the most widely used IoT protocol. We plan to help you quickly understand the MQTT protocol through a series of videos and become an expert in the MQTT field.

These videos will be divided into two parts: Basic and Advanced. The basic part mainly explains the essential features of MQTT, such as publish and subscribe, QoS, and sessions. The advanced part will introduce features such as will messages, retained messages, and shared subscriptions. This video, as the first episode, will cover the following:

1. What is MQTT?
2. Relationship between MQTT protocol versions
3. Preliminary introduction to key concepts of MQTT such as publish-subscribe, topics, etc.

This video claims that MQTT was mistakenly thought to stand for Message Queue Telemetry Transport, but now doesn’t stand for anything. If you spend 5 minutes researching this, you’ll see Oasis references for Message Queuing Telemetry Transport. The difference between Queue and Queuing is merely grammatical. Furthermore, this video seeks to disinform the viewer as to the previous meaning of the acronym but doesn’t actually spell out what it did stand for. That and the horrible synthetic voiceover really make this a video best deleted from YouTube.
