Hi, My name is Pete, and I was asked by Danny to give my thoughts on the ExtraTime plaster retarder by EazyMix.

Why I tried ExtraTime Plaster Retarder

When ExtraTime was released, I ordered a box of 100 to give it a trial on as many jobs as I could with British Gypsum’s Board Finish and Multi-Finish and up until now I have used about 75 sachets of ExtraTime.

I wanted to know exactly what the difference in time it would add to a mix, and that it would do what it said it would do.

I love this stuff. I’ve been using it in every mix for a few months now. I do one big mix a day and put on huge areas. I’m usually done for about three and my arm doesn’t feel like it’s going to fall off at the end of the day. Great product.

The usual "I've seen it all, I put on 100 bags a day" stone-age, head-in-the-sand merchants are totally missing the point. Retard the setting time, throw twice as much on, do big areas quicker for the same money, whilst not feeling stressed and under pressure because a huge area is going off before you can even second trowel it. It's called progress, lads

I'm new to the trade and this would be amazing for me... Easy to get caught out in this heat and large or tricky areas..really hard graft but this product looks amazing.

In the old days before all this new equipment sponges .speedskims and so on we used to add half a shovel of lime to the Mix For big areas

A question if it's ok, I plasterboarded a room before lockdown over 3 months ago and I was wondering if it's still ok to skim over without using PVA first ?

Is that a Collomix drill? I was thinking of getting one. How are they.
Ps. If it hangs so long when can you put second coat on?

Can I buy only this finishing knife or have to buy the whole set? Where is best to get it from? PS. You are the Master

How about posting another video and do a 4 or 5 bag mix ? 3 hr set on a 2 bag mix is a waste of time

Would this be good to use when over skimming on walls or ceilings that are not plasterboarded

why would you use extra time then use a speedskim which speeds the process up

Creme of tartar i used to use for this trick throw a full 50meter room on 1 hit but itll double the setting time to about 4 hours

I'd only use that gear if I was out day work for some tosser and wanted to drag the day out

How much for the additives, 2:50£ a sachet x2 =5£ + your bag of plaster, fuck that, can’t see any benefits, unless a little 1/2 bag job .
I’m beginning to think plasterers are suckers for new products that apparently make your job easier.
Speedskum, plastic trowels, flexi trowels, sponges etc, are aye and machine that sprays skimming.lol
There’s one born every minute.
Just keep your money, steel trowel is all you need
