Microsoft is an American Computer company founded in 1975 by College Drop-out Bill Gates and his friend Paul Allen. Gates and Allen initially worked as software designer for major Computer hardware designer IBM. They broke through in the computer market during the year 1981, when they designed MS-DOS for IBM, software that would make Microsoft hugely successful.

They soon came to dominate the software market, and they introduced a fully fledged Operating system called Windows in 1983. Then, in 1988, Bill Gates introduced a new addition to the Microsoft family, named Office. Each succession of Microsoft Office has included newer programs and aspects to its design, such as PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Internet Explorer and Access. Microsoft also maintains an infamous rivalry with fellow Computing Giant, Apple. Microsoft continues to dominate the computing market; it remains as the baseline operating system on millions of computers around the world.
