The Concord was extremely save compared to other planes. 27 years - only one crash. And that was found out not to be a Concorde problem but due to a piece of metal from the plane that took off from the same runway before the Concord.

Flying for 27 years is hardly a failure.

That ruptured fuel tank was because the plane that took off before it left a piece behind and that flew up into the Concorde's wing.

It was highly profitable. It had enough hours left on the air frames to continue into the 2020s. Virgin tried to buy them from BA to continue flying them. Ask British Airways why they would not sell them for £1 million per plane. That was like 2 million dollars in those days or $10 million today. 104 seats at £10, 000 per ticket was over 1 million revenue per return journey. It was a goldmine.

That jet was ahead of it's time, but with today's technology it should be a lot better. I would think.

For a time I worked in Reston, VA. The very air would tremble as the Concorde took off.

Lived on the Heathrow flightpath with planes going over constantly. Concorde was the only plane you would stop and watch anytime it went over.

It was designed in the 60s. First fight commercially was in the 70s. You have that information wrong.

The fuel coupled with the reduced seating capacity is the real problem and why supersonic commercial just isn't a thing. Ultimately, the Concorde was just far more expensive and while there is a niche market who are willing to pay the prices to go that speed.

And the reason that crash killed the Concorde is that as soon as that niche market weren't willing to pay more because of an unjustly perceived increase of risk, it simply wasn't profitable.

I worked in Reston, VA. It was near Dulles. When the concorde took off all the buildings in Reston shook due to the noise.

It still dominated much of aviation in the 70s to the 90s. This plane will forever remain part of my childhood in the 90s. Hopefully, a safe and better version of it that’s more comfortable will return like United’s Boom supersonic program. 💯👌❤️😎✈️

Tickets used to cost 10 grand back then, now I can't imagine how much it would be if those planes were still operational.

That concorde crash was caused due to the derbis of a dc 10 that was on the runway

I remembered watching these things and hearing the sonic booms in Kowloon when the Concordes took off from Kai Tak in Hong Kong back in the 90s. I was just a kid visiting from the US and was in complete aw.

My grandparents flew on it - said it was an incredible experience & that when it broke the sound barrier, all you could hear was a soft popping sound in the cabin. 💯
