Sam Villa demonstrates two different techniques using a Marcel Iron to create a variation of finger waves.

Learn more about this technique at

The Red Carpet Waves creates deep crests and valleys and is much more dramatic, think Taylor Swift.

The Push Waves appear much softer and organic, they tend to look more natural.

Have some fun and experiment with both of these techniques to discover the best method for the look you're trying to achieve. Enjoy Red Carpet Waves and Push Waves!

I very much appreciate how Sam Villa guides the viewer step by step through his process. Not only does he do so in great detail by using proper terminology and indicating specific cues (measurements, hand placement, temperature, etc.) but he explains why each step is important. These are qualities of an excellent teacher. I only wish that the camera was closer so the viewer can see the process properly.

Sign of a great teacher. He understands how every move a hair stylist makes with heat manipulates the bonds and shifts the wave. Incredibly, detailed information 👌

I am amazed over how incredibly beautiful your work is and I'm sure you've heard it before, but your way of breaking everything down is incredibly helpful. You don't just do it, you show us AND explain exactly what you're doing, how and why. You're an excellent teacher. Thank you so much for sharing this with us! <3

You are such a fantastic teacher! Step-by-step, you really made it easy to learn without talking down to us. I'm trying the Carpet right now on my hair for a potential wedding look in a few days. Thanks for the inspiration! I've got to pick up that DVD!

Such a good tutorial not too rushed going through each step paced and slowly thank you! hate it when tutorials are too rushed. Loved the wrist watch thing. So helped. THANK Clear and precise. It's obvious you understand what you're doing as well. I think that is key. Lots of people know how but they don't understand or at least don't care to understand why.
