Thank you! I left the modem in the garage and from there I have a Gigabit Ethernet to fiber that runs up into the house to help isolate my home network from that buried cable line that brings in my internet. I had a lightning strike nearby several years ago and of course the service provider circuit is the most grounded part of the system so lightning blew up everything that was tied to it, so after that I decided no more copper connections to the service provide equipment. That said, I needed a good way to reset the modem because the carrier is constantly meddling with the network adding and removing customers, and using the plug you mentioned will make my life a lot easier than having to go out to the garage, stumble over the lawnmower, and junk out there, to reset the modem. :) And I read the other users comments about firmware updates to the cable modem, mine is so old I seriously doubt firmware updates come out so frequently as to be an issue. I will be getting one of those plugs as you suggested! Thanks again!

Hi! Just wanted to know if you have an AT&T Static IP or Dynamic ipv4/ ipv6? I have heard on many forums that UDM Pro is finicky about internet connection and remotely access or just running smoothly if you don't have a Static IP.

The million dollar question I have about this product has to do with firmware updates to your cable modem. From what I can see, there's no programmable delay you can set. So basically if your ISP pushes out a firmware update and this plug power cycles in the middle of said update, don't you now have a brick?

A great idea to solve modem issues this way! Conveniently my fiber is directly connected to my USG via a SFP module, so I can bypass any further point of failure to my ISP.

Is it automatically configured to do this out of the box? Or do you have to change some settings in the controller software and/or the plug to make it automatically power cycle the modem at the proper time?

Probably not my best internet having Starlink, outages are very regular and I’m sure cutting power will make them longer.

i just wish it had a wired ethernet connection... as modems often live inside metal wall boxes. Wifi may not be availble in there.
