I have been banned from Minecraft.

Mojang are introducing their own method of suspending accounts. As of 1.19.1, players can be reported for violating community standards, and may be subject to multiplayer server bans.

Thank you to AwakenedRedstone for the help.

"as long as you're a good person, this won't affect you"

come on phoenix, you're smarter than that. it's always cap. big companies ALWAYS suck at this kinda thing. there are no exceptions. it's gonna be bad.

What worries me is that in their community guidelines it says “typing in all caps can be read as YELLLING! and yelling is usually not very nice”. I think I speak for everyone when I say having “usually” in written rules is pretty scary

i think its as simple as "We don't trust you" towards mojang, and it'll defenetly be abused somehow

This is such a horrible idea by Microsoft. The admins could easily just take care of this person. There's also the possibility of someone getting spam reported over something like a stolen diamond

They're overstepping and some bans include single player bans, which violates consumer rights laws in most countries.

Yeah, no, I don't agree. This feels like "if you have nothing to hide you have nothing to fear" all over again. It oversteps boundaries and is massively abusable no matter how you look at it.

If there was ever a time to get behind "I miss the old minecraft" it is certainly now

The road to hell is paved in good intentions. Things like this have historically gone down horrifically, it always started as something *good*.
Those who cannot remember the past are doomed to repeat it.

The "as long as you're a good person, and not violating these guidelines, this won't affect you" got to me. I think everyone watching this video knows that's not true.

I dont consider people who swear to be bad people, and this system could easily ban that group. "Harassment and bullying" is also way too broad of a term. If I teased my friend and someone reported me, I could be banned from all servers just for saying something completely light-hearted.

"As long as you're a good person, this won't affect you" has that "innocent people don't need lawyers" energy to it.

I absolutely hate this. This kind of system only makes sense when the company also owns the servers. Minecraft servers are owned by individuals. Some servers allow many things that Mojang deems unacceptable. What if I violate the Mojang community guidelines on 2b2t? Why should Mojang get involved when the players have agreed that there are no rules on a particular server? I could understand this for Realms and only banning players from Realms but Mojang needs to keep their hands out of private servers.

The fact that they have the audacity to restrict your access of a product you bought to an independently operated server is mind blowing.

When it comes to moderation, i would actually trust a bunch of admins on a P2W server more than Microsoft.

I once made a "banned from minecraft" mock up image in 2021.
I regret it.

Not an argument, there are plenty of reasons to not want to submit to rules such as these even if you're not doing anything bad. Mojang isn't my dad, and I don't trust them to be fair.

Banning ALL multiplayer options is like removing the option to play with your friend sitting on the couch next to you because you got banned in Street Fighter or something. They should not be able to stop you using your own private servers.

Just got temp banned on bedrock for literally doing nothing. Opened the game up for the first time in a year and said I was banned for “sexually inappropriate content”. I’ve never used the chat feature and only play with my brothers. Ridiculous

My only issue is that now Mojang (and by extension Microsoft) gets to unilaterally decide what a "good person" is and I've lost my faith in a corporation to decide that.
