For heavy motion graphics and color grading (not just a quick lut) I can assure you the Mac Studio Max is good but limiting. I just returned my Max and ordered the Ultra base with 2tb drive for this very reason. Export times are fast across all of the M1s for most things. But smooth playback while working on heavy grades or thick layered motion graphics is also important for those types of users. The MBP would reach its limit quick.

I also have the M1 mini and if I wasn’t doing color grading or mograph, I’d stick with that or the M1 pro simply for the additional ports and screen. I also do UI design and web dev and the mini handled it like a champ. Even 4K editing in davinci resolve was fairly smooth on a 2k timeline.

The ultra is specific. But when you hit that limit on the others it’s a great option for an upgrade. Looking forward to oct when mine delivers.

6:50 don't forget all the folks who have been on iMac 27" for the last few years. They don't have a display to bring to a Mac Studio

I have the MacBook Pro with the 10 core cpu and 16 gb ram. I’m getting the 32gb gpu Mac studio with 32gb ram. Also, I had a keyboard and docked it to an 43 inch ultra wide, so I’ve always had a keyboard since my 16 inch intel.

Mac Studio + MacBook Air M1 15".... But this is for the future. For some time I will stick to Mac Studio (delivery date for my order: next 5 days!) + MBP 2017
