2024 Xbox Backwards Compatibility Update Coming? - Adam Koralik

It's Adam Koralik here and today we're discussing the possibility of a new Xbox backwards compatibility update coming based on comments made by Sarah Bond. Is this likely? Probably not, but let's talk about it.

It would be cool, if they continued this program. There's so many gems on both the original Xbox and Xbox 360 that would be nice to see be playable on current consoles.

With Microsoft owning Activision, it would be great if we got
-Transformers: War For Cybertron
-Transformers: Fall of Cybertron

Apparently Hasbro would like for the games to get re-released so I think we could see it. Fall of Cybertron actually briefly had a digital-only Xbox One release.

Also, there is no excuse not to get Quake 4 added to backwards compatibility, boosted to 60FSP or 120FSP at this point. I'm optimistic it'll come given we got Quake 1 and 2 remaster and re-released.

Since Activision games are now on the table, I would love to see the 2009 "Wolfenstein" reboot & perhaps "Singularity" as well.

I don't know if we'll ever see these happen, especially with games like THUG with a lot of licensed music. Alas, I don't have much optimism for modern day Xbox anyway.

I think it's good that they now have a dedicated preservation team. For Series X and future generations of Xbox. Because at that point we'll be digital only. Ownership will be long gone.

I really don't get why Microsoft didn't make Mechassault backwards compatible with the Xbox 360. It is literally a MICROSOFT TITLE, I grew up with that game under aged along side Halo 2.

I actually didn't know Disney owned Spiderman's video game rights specifically, and Sony owned the movie rights specifically. Sounds messy, lol.

I think they mean to make what currently backwards compatible with the Series-X/S, work on the XBOX App on PC. So, your digital OG-XBOX, XBOX360 and XBONE games will now be playable on PC. So, this would give handhelds like the ROG Ally a library increase via GamePass.

I would love Sonic Heroes to be backwards compatible for Xbox, but with the rumored remake possibly happening, I doubt it will happen!

i really hope they start doing more with backwards compat again. this is one of the main reasons i choose xbox as a console to begin with.
