It’s been called the defining crisis of our time. Climate change caused more internal displacement than war in 2020, with storms, landslides, floods, drought and wildfires forcing many to flee their homes and abandon their livelihoods and way of life. As the earth continues to heat rapidly, more than 200 million people could be displaced by 2050. And the world’s poorest and most vulnerable suffer the worst from the climate crisis, even as they contribute the least to it.

Hello from Canada. I am sorry for all this destruction. People in the west, especially North America, are very insulated from the rest of the world it seems. Perhaps I am wrong. Many people in the west are in denial about climate change as well as struggling with the economic impacts and social isolation brought about by Covid-19. Canada had drought, massive forest fires and flooding and soaring temperatures during the summer, so we are being impacted as well. The heat from the fires was so great on the Pacific coast that the the sea life was boiled alive.
