A wise man said: "Mathematics are the hard backing for Computer Science. You cannot understand what is deeply happening in your computer without a decent math knowledge"

Honestly discrete math and linear algebra aren't that bad, it's the calculus that's doing it for me

Such piece of information in just 5 minutes. You're the best, I never knew CS is not equal to Programming.

I read somewhere:
"Maths is to CS what notes is to music. You can definitely learn to play music and be pretty good at it without knowing to read notes but you'll never be an actual musician."

Not sure how this doesn't have more views, you're giving solid info on math involved in the different areas of programming. Thank you!

Great video and music! Upbeat!! I worked as a computer scientist and a software engineer, and I tell my students that in math, you will learn how to critically dissect a problem into components, and this skill is very useful in any IT or CS field.

This was super interesting, I'm learning programming right now and was wondering why there is such complex mathematics covered in CS degrees, your closing statements made all of that make perfect sense!

Much more insightful than other sources here on YT.

Besides Linear Algebra, Abstract Algebra, Number Theory (example: Prime Factorization) is important for certain branches of Computer Science such as Cryptology. Number Theory and Graph Theoretic concepts form the basis for Automata and Compilers as well.

I very much enjoyed this video. I believe that you hit every concept one could need. My favorite part was that you included calculus as a necessity for everyday problem solving. Very well done.

Hey Leo, thank you for your video, I have a question. I graduated college in 2005, I had taken all the way from Calc1, 2, 3 and diff eq for my physics major, but then I went to medical school afterwards and we don't use any of that there and I have essentially forgotten it all. I am a practicing physician now but I still keenly love CS and I feel like I want to self study AI but the mathematics requirements (discreet math, linear algebra, Calc1/2, Prob/stats) are just seem like tackling a mountain to me since it has been ages since I solved any math problem. I really want to self study it. Which of the math courses should I study or should I just give up on it. It seems like I need all that you have outlined. btw I am 40 yrs old. Thanks for your video

Great Video Leo. You might want to tune the volume of the background music down a little.
