The first four was great episode, really great. The synergy between Yue and Hajime while having them challenged physically and mentally was awesome. Then it became a harem fest and it completely lost the feeling of epic.

When reading the novel, the bunny girl being added to the team was a bit annoying but bearable. When the dragon girl got added to the team it was also somewhat bearable since you knew she was never going to be a focus of interest. It was really only after his classmate joined his harem that the story became a harem centred story and really stopped bothering with telling an interesting adventure story. The best arc was the initial arc of his survival in the dungeon and also with the vampire girl.

This series, despite its edginess, flaws and overall themes, is one of my favorite light novels. It's over the top and absolutely ridiculous, but then again, this is power fantasy. MC isn't the typical coward, unaware, little lady killer. (but he does end up with a couple wives later on) The weapons resonate with my weapon-crazed self as well as the powers themselves. Revenge type stories are ones I especially enjoy a lot.

I can honestly say with full confidence that Hajime is one of my favorite anime MC's and this has now become one of my favorite anime since finishing the first season!!!! Even though he is embracing the edgelord vibe of his personality, He still hasn't gotten rid of his compassion to care for and protect the people he loves and wants to keep safe be it they are a comrade or lover. Even with saving the class and how hesitant he was to make a decision, He recalled the one person(Kaori) who still admired him for being in his weak state which reassured me that he still possessed a moral compass to do the right thing and moved on from the betrayal from one of his classmates!!! Also, I love how he approaches everything with much more confidence now and doesn't let anything stand in the way of his one goal!!! Can't wait to start Season 2 of this anime one all the dubbed episodes are out!!! Great video and summary of the anime btw and I love your channel!!!! I wish they hadn't ruined and altered the premise starting from the first episode. This show had such potential. For anyone who doesn't understand why i say this; Hajime falling into the abyss doesn't happen until almost a 100 pages later in the LN. He also despairs deeply in the abyss for weeks (not days) unable to die because of the Ambrosia's healing properties causing him to look back at his life and how he'd always gotten the short-end of the straw regardless of being a good person. It was all this pain and suffering that altered him causing him to evolve into who he is now. Meeting Yue and spending months in the labyrinth with her is what saved what little shred of humanity he had left, which is why she's so important to him. He actually spent the first Chapter explaining about how they were transferred to that world, why everyone looks down on him, how he studied to be useful, why he was bullied in both worlds because of how Kaori always gave her attention to only him, etc. Then they also messed up him knowing about the Ambrosia (elixir in the cavern). He never knew what it was until he meets Yue and she explains what it is and it's significance. They also removed the entire Haulia Arc and the Sacred Tree and just jumped into the third volume. They removed the retired Guildmaster Arc which is very significant as to how the whole party became special exceptions for the Guild and got Status Plates without being questioned. The story is also told from 2 perspectives in the first 4 volumes, from Kouki/Kaori's and Hajime's. It honestly frustrates me when they ruin LN adaptations by cutting content and shoving in too many volumes into one season.
You would not believe how significant the poorly rushed animated Haulia Arc is. If this ever gets a 3rd season you'll understand why. For those of you who have read Volume 7, you already know that Cam the most dangerous beastman alive.
