I saw an interview with Christopher Plummer a long time ago in which he admitted to having a drinking problem during the filming of this movie and he would be hang over in the mornings before filming and couldn’t stand Julie Andrew’s wholesome attitude, always cheerful wishing everybody a good morning!!!

It took him years but Christopher Plummer eventually came around to the charms of the film and grew to accept that it was part of his legacy.

Julie Andrews told a story in an interview. She and her husband decided to make Switzerland their home. She was called to reprise Sound of Music songs. She was hiking through the hills singing " The hills are alive with the sound of music". Then a large group of Japanese tourists with cameras around their necks popped up on a hill looking astonished.

I loved how when she trips is the part when she says " I have confidence in me" like even though she was tripping she stil had the confidence to walk forward. I took that as inspiration

Life wouldn't have been the same without this movie, shows how beautiful life can be

Another fact about the "I had confidence" song is when she passes through the arch, you can see two woman walking behind her in the background. One of them is the real Maria Von Trapp, who agreed to cameo for the movie.

Several years later, Julie Andrews had a talk show on which the REAL Maria Von Trapp teaches her to properly yodel.

I went to a Sound of Music play back in late 70's for a elementary school field trip in Hawaii, and sitting up front was the children of the Von Trapps. After the show they stood up and gave us a wave.

A timeless masterpiece. I was shocked to learn Christopher Plummer hated it but that goes to show what a brilliant actor he was. His chemistry with Julie Andrews during that fateful dance scene….sigh.

in the clip the last scene of Marie and Captain Von Trapp dancing is one of the most romantic dancing scenes i've ever seen in a movie. 🤩

My mother only took us to see two movies when I was a child and the Sound of Music was one of them. I will still watch it every once in a while, and every time I do I notice something I hadn’t before❤

Me and my siblings grew up in the era of musical movies and this turned up to be a favorite and well and oft quoted songs in my culture in Manila Philippines. Everybody just loves the songs as well as the movie itself. My favorite parts are the gazebo scene with Andrews and Plummer singing "Something Good", and then that Austrian waltz dance out in the garden during a party in the villa. Lastly, the Edelweiss song scene that brought tears to my eyes. This movie musical NEVER GETS OLD. ❤❤❤❤

I will be in Stowe, Vermont this weekend. That is where the real Captain and Maria are buried.
