“It’s not him but take it as far as you want.” That’s all you need to hear to understand the depths of their corruption even though the driver obeyed every order they gave. Still gave him citations after threatening his life and illegally searched his vehicle. Disgraceful.

I'm a law and order guy but this doesn't surprise me. A few years ago the Aurora Police Department did a mass detention and handcuffed a bunch of people in their pursuit of a bank robber. People driving their cars on a public street and going about their life were subjected en mass to the grossly heavy hand pursuit of a bank robber who's description was was in no way close to what they looked like. Everybody was automatically suspected of a crime in their small brains. They had people sitting cuffed or zipped tied on curbs all over an intersection looking for this guy. The Aurora PD, the Mayor and city council could care less about your Constitutional Rights. This kind of culture has been going on for years in Aurora CO.

"Push it as far as you want" That is a police officer telling the others throw the book at him if you want.
A man doing nothing.

Every false statement made by a piggie should be a felony and prosecuted accordingly. This was complete BS

"push it as far as you want" translates to "we messed up, so now let's cover our asses by breaking the law even further"

Of course they will investigate themselves and determine that they did absolutely nothing wrong.

Denver cop placed a loaded handgun against my skull when I was in handcuffs at the District 6 station. There were at least a dozen other cops who witnessed this. The charges they picked my up for were dismissed when a witness came to court and told the City Attoryney that they had the wrong person. The city asked for a continuance because they didn't know what to do. Then, before my 3rd court appearance the City Attorney tried to extort a confession out of me for something I didn't do by saying he would dismiss some charges. When the judge called the case, the City Attorney stood up and said the City was dismissing all charges. I was told I can't sue the city because video gets deleted every 90 days and there would be no video record of the gun to my head. Seems to me I have some kind of a case, but a lawyer told me since the video was probably erased it is my word against their word. WTF

Aurora has a rich and distinguished history with this kind of event...The standout was the six year old girl face down on pavement, along with her relatives during a botched traffic stop a while ago....

Wow who would have thought that a police department with a pattern of excessive force would do it again! Never!!!!

Meanwhile, the actual criminal snuck away while the LEOs were distracted by the shiny object.

"Push it as far as you want."

Should be all you need to hear right there about how police feel about citizens

The frequency of these situations would mostly roll down hill and blow away if the civil penalties from lawsuits came out of the pockets of the cop's own pockets. As it stands, damages are paid by taxpayers and there is no skin off the nose of those responsible.

American police have evolved to solely understanding 2 things - escalation of even the most minor of traffic violations into a deadly situation and use of force. There is nothing they cannot escalate to deadly force if you don't comply to their every whim. And they do so without risk of any punishment.

Such is the state of American policing. Dismal and embarrassing.

I’m sure before the federal investigation that the Aurora department had investigated itself and found no wrong doing. It would be interesting to compare the results of their internal investigation to the federal investigation

As part of the settlement I would say that both cops that pulled him over at gun point needs to be fired and have their law enforcement certificate revoked so they could never be on law enforcement ever again

EVERY POLICE DEPT has that pattern. Its taught to them .

State sponsored terrorism is ramped in our country. The systematic surveillance technology allowed to police agencies by the people is the biggest problem.
