For those bashing.... He said he didn't understand and he needed more time. He says he wants to know more about it. Just an honest response

"I would need about three more years to consider this question (paraphrasing)" -- Jordan Peterson, 2018
Just recently, three years later, there is an interview of Mr. Peterson breaking down in tears saying he is amazed he may believe in Christ. Keep praying for him.

Sometimes “spiritual” things cannot be figured out. They must be revealed.

And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven. (Matthew 16:17)

“Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day.” (1 Corinthians 15:3-5)

I wacthed a lot of his materials, and learned so much, but seems that his wisdom and rationality are becoming a weight in this particular point: Christ.

Peterson seems to hold many Kabbalistic interpretations of reality. He's very into Jung which got his idea of archetypes from the zohar.

What is unclear, murky or symbolic . Thomas reached hishands in Christs wounds and they were true. What could other be Risen?

Peterson is really interesting, because he identifies a lot of fascinating ways in which stuff in the Bible is truth and valuable. Part of this is his psychologist background. Effectively his area of expertise is understanding how people are made, not physically (though that is part of it) but mentally. When you illuminate Biblical truths with an understanding of people psychologically suddenly a lot of really fascinating stuff comes up. That is why (IMO) his maps of meaning lectures are so interesting to people who are searching in some way for that, and obviously Christians would find that interesting, or some of them.

But, Peterson is making a couple of errors. His first one is you can see far too much emphasis in his lectures on evolution. He explains the origin of the truths he finds in the Bible through evolutionary terms. This is a mistake. The evolutionary underpinning he applies is completely 100% superfluous to any of the conclusions he draws, and if he were to jettison it entirely he would be able to draw the exact same conclusions while accepting (or not if you choose) to take the Bible's own stated origin (the word of God) as true. By introducing evolution you see how his conclusions occasionally get muddled, but the evolutionary theories don't contribute anything positive to his conclusions, just dispense with it altogether.

The second mistake is related, kinda. Although he draws out many truths from the Bible he is not acknowledging God Himself, or Jesus, with respect to the need for a personal relationship with God/Jesus. At least he does not do so publicly. Always he talks about leaving the metaphysical aspects out and still seeing how these stories or statements convey deep truth. Yes, of course, but this is to really miss out on the big picture. Yes by applying truth to your life, Godly truth, and by refuting the mainstream liberal lies that are spread, you can bring a sense of order and good to your life. However, you are not being invited to live by the law of a moral country and yet remain in a foreign and immoral land, you are in fact being invited to become a citizen of that moral country and a friend of the king. God does not just want you to recognise truth, thats secondary. What He wants is a relationship with you directly, He wants to offer you peace between Him and you and a chance to become His child, His friend, and to inherit His kingdom together. To do that you have to acknowledge Jesus, not just as an idea but as God and king. Jesus has made peace between you and God, and you can have that peace but you must first repent, and second acknowledge Jesus in his rightful place. Peterson must repent as must we all, and he must accept Jesus as real, not just something to be studied. How terrible would it be if Peterson (or any of us) sees Jesus when we die, or on that final day, and only then realises that what he has treated as a curiosity or some "transcendent truth" is actually way more than that, is actually his God and king, and all that time wanted to be his friend, only now its too late.

Peterson talks about needing to think for 3 years. He's talked before about thinking about things for long times, decades. Thats good, but he needs to rethink his timescales. Don't think about a few years or decades, you need to think long term. You need to think TRUELY long term. Not 3 years, you must think 3, 000 years. Where will you be in 3, 000 years, and where do you want to be? Place the long game here, not a mere few years we have in this life.

I really hope that Peterson and all the other good people out there who are not tricked by the lies and immorality the world is purveying do seek the truth and do search for a relationship with Jesus. The things Peterson is saying that are making so many people open their eyes and say "I always knew this" are just the tiny edges of the beginning. Of course you always knew these things, God spoke them to you, He wrote them on your conscience. Tidy your room, yes, but aspire to much more than that. Aspire to know God, to make Him proud of you, to be given a place of honour for eternity, and to inherit with Jesus where God will transform you into perfection. Aspire to that!

On hearing absolution from guilt of sins

There is a very real sense in which Protestants, of which I am one, have a real, and in many cases lifelong, struggle with coming to terms with the gospel. I know this by my own personal struggles, experience with Protestant communities, and the study of Protestant theology. The question: How can I truly know I am forgiven? Is not something that comes readily to all Christians, especially after living sometime as a believer and failing to exemplify the image of Christ in one’s life. Here’s my answer:
1) trust in the testimony of Scripture
2) trust in the testimony of the Spirit

1) “there is therefore, now, no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 8:1)

2) “My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.“

What a source of comfort it is to constantly walk in the peace of the gospel. This is why I believe we evangelicals have to stop emphasizing the moment when we receive over the lifelong living before the face of God in grace. The curtain that is Christ body has made a perfect way now and forevermore through which we have community with God. It’s not that we don’t need a priest, because we do. It’s just that that priest who really intercedes between God and man is Jesus Christ the righteous.

One more thing, maybe we Protestants need to be better at frequently communicating the gospel to one another. The gospel is not for new Christians, it’s for all, moment by moment, day by day, and through all eternity.

Jordan, here is your answer to the enigma you face;

John 3:3 - Jesus answered him, "Most certainly, I tell you, unless one is born again, he can't see (or understand) the Kingdom of God.
1 Corinthians 2:14 - The (not born again) man, without the Spirit of God,  does not understand the things that come from the Spirit of God. For they appear foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.

As he moves through lecturing the Books of the Bible, J.P will at some stage, step on a sacred landmine, and will literally be blown into realisation. The Gospel of Thomas advocates that when we eventually discover the truth, we will be amazed. I hope J.P is not injured by the explosion, (psychologically or financially). Secretly, I think he knows already. ✝️

1 Corinthians 2:14
But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
