Dear, condo comes with fees, huge auto insurance and much less living space. When you do the math, you are paying the same amount per month, all inclusive, for a townhouse.

I would love to see salaries increase dramatically to make housing more affordable than to see a reduction of $500k. Both scenarios are unlikely to happen but if salaries were to increase say by 50-75%, at least those who have goals to afford a long term home (not a 500sqft unit etc.) Can do so sooner. It wouldn't be fair for those who owned homes for decades to lose $500k+ in value in an average priced home.

This surge, combined with shrinking household sizes, will strengthen demand for housing (whether owned or rented) and act as a powerful counter to sliding sales and prices—eventually putting a floor under the correction.

Yes, if you don't live in Toronto then you can afford a house with $500k. You say that yes, if you are buying your first home in Toronto, then you can buy a "home" around 400k and 600k... The question is, a home? A condo? What kind of condo? With that budget you can only afford a studio (300sq ft). I haven't found yet a townhome priced $500k in Toronto...

I got 1, 022 results in my area of ontario under 500k. Headlines acting like there are no cash flowing properties/ first time homes are very deceiving as they are focused on Toronto and Vancouver.
