This is very double edged and complex. I would not play this unless I had everything committed to memory! Good tutorial!

Thank you, Master Ly.

I'm glad to see a GM advocating Scandi' Qa5, because simply - I used to be an e4 player, and in Every game, I lost to that opening (up to a point that I thought that Scandi' players just cheated with an engine), even though I was prepared, I started playing Scandi' Qa5 and won a lot. A highly underrated opening.

Very instructive. Thanks a lot.
Off this subject, I have another Closed Sicilian question. You advised me well about the white perspective earlier.
This time I would like your perspective on Black("reversed") Closed Sicilian. Is it universally adaptable against openings other than c4? Perhaps, like from the white perspective, possible with adjustments(or abandonment) against the d4, e4 openings?
I really appreciate your kind assistance. There are only a few YouTube chess presenters as yourself. You have an obvious vocation/feel for the game of chess.
Thanks again for your kind devotion to your followers and chess itself. It is truly appreciated.

I like white Set up at 04:00, but this Nc6 and Bg4 seems extremly active for Black. Glad I Found you! Merry xmas!

Very informative. Any chance we could see how to pay against the scandinavian too? I can't ever seem to get much as white.

One variation I would have liked to see covered is when white pushes E5 instead of ExD. This has some popularity in the chess under 2000 players.

At 10:37, is it good to, if White plays h3, reply with Qh5? And be ready to sacrifice the Bishop for two pawns once White castles?

Or would that be a waste of time since the h8 Rook can't join?

I'm looking for an opening with black that allows me to play for a win and that does not come with a ton of theory like 1...e5 or 1...c5. So I've been exploring the Scandinavian defence but it seems that white, if he is less ambitious, can force a draw. In one recent book I found e.g. the following line: 1.e4 e5 2.exd5 Qxd5 3.Nc3 Qa5 4.d4 Nf6 5.Nf3 Bf5 6.Bc4 e6 7.Bd2 Bb4 8.a3 Bxc3 9.Bxc3 Qb6 10.d5 Nbd7 11.0-0 0-0 12.dxe6 Bxe6 13.Bxe6 Qxe6 14.Re1 Qf5 15.Nh4 Qd5 and now white can exchange queens and we get an equal endgame with a symmetrical pawn structure that makes it basically impossible to play for a win with black. Are there any ways to avoid this without having a disadvantage as black?
What do you think about the Scandinavian with 3....Qd6? Is it less sound than Qa5?

GM Molton,
When you are white, and play e4 to start, and black responds with the Scandinavian, what is your preferred counter?

exd5 (accept) ?
e5 (advance) ?
d4 (Blackmar gamit) ?
Nc3 (Lizard attack) ?
other ?

thank you!

@3:09 what is wrong with bxb2 or nbd7 because if knight ever goes to g6 we always have qc6 sry for comment spam

Sir, what to do if White doesn't control the center with d4? Where to put the Bishops and e- and c-pawns?
