He considers the role of concentric weight training and concentric emphasis jumps (such as box to box jumps, from a feet on floor starting position).
John also talks about specific muscles involved in sprinting and why the hamstrings and adductors are important. He also relates this to sex differences and why women may need to focus on the adductors and hamstrings in particular.
Mention is also made of the value of contrast/complex training - which combines plyos/jump exercises and weights into a workout. An example is provided of such a workout.

IMO Intensive tempo plays a very important role in strengthening the hamstrings, adductors and hip flexors. Almost completely specific. And builds structure.
