He was an honest man,
He was father , damn
He had a son, he had a daughter,
He had a problem and
Addiction was always part of him,
-Lord knows he was fighting that,
-most people don't understand
-that addiction will fight you back
-and you can be strong
-hell, He was strong
-he showed no pain
He just smiled all along,
Wish he'da picked up the phone,
When he felt all alone
If he'da called me that night, I know he would not be gone,
Well so long my friend

He was sober for the first time in a long time
And he said to me he finally felt alive again
It's about time
An everyone's proud time
But the one time, he decided to go out again
was his last time,
Cause on that night,
I got the call telling me I just lost my friend
And just one time,
Took you from us, I
Wish i could hear you say you felt alive again

I need to talk to the people
Yea they need to know what it is
My friend was a superhero
At least that's what he was to his kids
Yea He was a hell of a man
Would do anything for his friends
He Never backed down, nor ran from nothing
Always stood and fought till the end, awe yea
And I know deep down that you've been trying to change
While these people always judge you could never feel your pain
---And they'll never know what it really takes
To take addiction out before it goes the other way

He was sober for the first time in a long time
And he said to me he finally felt alive again
It's about time
An everyone's proud time
But the one time, he decided to go out again
was his last time,
Cause on that night,
I got the call telling me I just lost my friend
And just one time,
Took you from us, I
Wish i could hear you say you felt alive again

Burden is way to underrated as an artist. Not just as a rapper.

My brother, i WAS stage 4 and then I cried this out to God, to Jesus...
I can't do it, but You can
I want it gone immediately
I want it good permanently
I do not want any withdrawals
And then I begged, and begged, and begged Him
I want no more desire for alcohol
I can't do it BUT YOU CAN
I can't do it BUT YOU CAN
I can't do it BUT YOU CAN

and brother, Jesus God TOOK IT AWAY that very hour... 8/31/11, and that was the birthday of my grandfather who DIED of alcoholism, 60lbs, no teeth, and in a coma.
I was healed immediately, permanently, no withdrawals, and absolutely NO DESIRE for alcohol... to this day and it will be forever more. THANK YOU JESUS!

All glory to God, forever.
We can't do it, but Jesus can. Put it in HIS hands, He LOVES you bro. And so does this brother, much love.
Your brother in our Lord and Saviour God Jesus,
David

Thank you, Burden, for this excellent song. My family was damn near destroyed by addiction to alcohol and pills. I was saved by God's love and mercy. I leaned on him day and night, and he pulled me out of that horrible struggle. It's been 3 yrs... Amen!!! Now, I'm praying for my son, who is still in that awful place. I'm going to play this song for him today. ❤

I am clean by the Grace of God for 2 1/2 years. God has given me Freedom from addiction and I'm so loving life, even in what seems to be difficult times. Love the song. Keep walking with Jesus and He will always make a way when there seems to be no way. You are in my prayers Burden!

Addicts helping addicts is the only way to stay clean. Because only another addict understands.

Been in recovery for the last 12 years. I lost my brother 1 week before my 10th recovery birthday. It sucks, but I'm still going to meetings doing service work by going to the detoxes and treatment centers. My sponsor said if I give back what I was freely given, I'll stay sober and he was right. Love your recovery stuff.

My daughter told me to listen to this song because alcohol was my weakness and it was killing me and been sober for three months. By the grace of God and my daughter plus this song I listen to ever day to remind me of my life I wouldn't have of I didn't stop drinking

“And they’ll never know just what it really takes, to take addiction out before it goes the other way” 😔 This songs hits. This fight is the hardest fight, and it’s to the death.

Man bro, I just lost my youngest son February 4th he was 24 years young about to turn 25 had everything going for him just bought a house with his fiancé was going to get married this summer. He has always struggled with addiction but always came back stronger each time. I’m writing this just to say thank you. Joey passed away thinking that he was snorting coke but it was pure fentanyl. Yup right in the dealers front yard. I’m so hurt as a man to lose him 😢 PS this took place in Chatt, Mire, Florida. And the dirt bag dealer is still walking around freely. Burden my sons and I have always bumped your stuff since the beginning thank you for this . God bless

Tomorrow, in church, I will pray for peoples addictions. God these people need your touch, send the holy spirit upon them.
My younger brother is a long time addict. 2 sons he doesn't know. Attacked our mother last week and got locked up. Court in a month on her bday. He needs this time to dry out but Lord help all who need it. I thank you for opportunities to see and do better. Life goes on. Bless you.

I am so glad I got clean when I did! I thank the Lord every night! I can't tell you how many stories like this I have heard. So sad. Addition is one of the hardest things in the world to admit to; then have to fight. When your body and mind are fighting you the whole time.
