I only added 1 tsp of sugar, and this really tasted more like candy than a Thai peanut sauce. I would urge everyone to start low with the sugar, as peanut butter often has added sugar, though not what I used, and apple cider vinegar gets sweet when you cook it.

If you want it to taste more like a traditional sauce, add 1.5 to 2 Tbsp lime juice, 1 Tbsp Sriracha, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 to 2 tsp ginger powder, and 1 tsp ginger garlic sauce.

I then added 2 tsp of Carolina reaper sauce to spice it up. This would be hot for most, so use whatever sauce you are comfortable with, as long as it's first ingredient is peppers and not vinegar or water (avoid Tobasco, Frank's, etc.)

If you aren't in a hurry, minced garlic, ginger, and Thai chillies would be better, though you'd have to adjust quantities to taste.

If you're adding crushed peanuts to a sauce with smooth peanut butter, why not just use crunchy peanut butter? That's what I tend to do, unless I'm trying to make a dish that looks attractive to guests. Then I'll use creamy and sprinkle cilantro and crushed peanuts on top of the finished dish.

I've never tried adding ACV. It doesn't cause it to separate? I suppose it is a tiny amount. I'm looking forward to trying this today.

The apple cider vinegar must've been used because the bowl was empty at the end. They just didn't show her adding it.
