This is that exact same computer I've seen on Amazon for years. Same case and all. With like 500 listings for it, flooding the search feature.

I always tell people I can build them a rig, and then they go buy these piles of junk because it was "on sale" and then they have numerous issues because of them cheaping out.

Long ago, I got interested in building a PC with pretty lights all over it, then went searching for parts, only to find a huge number of negative reviews about the light controllers melting after while. Imagine one of those dumb things burning your house down, or worse, hurting someone? Good video, thanks for sharing/warning!

I've never seen one of these that wasn't overpriced hot garbage, but at least it's not Alienware. Many of them have plastic instead of glass, so they look absolutely terrible and scuffed after the first time the user wipes the dust off with a paper towel.

I've started buying pre-builts from Micro Center. Just recently tried to custom build my new rig, and it was still cheaper to go with MC's "PowerSpec" option. Plus, their service and support is outstanding. I suppose I could be really picky and attempt to find higher quality parts or search everywhere possible on the net, but I'm not a serious gamer. I work in IT and maintain a lab here at the house, so monkeying around with PC hardware is not something I really want to do. Very much a consumer of PCs...just want to hit the power button and do my thing. Dealing with enterprise hardware, drivers, coding, and whatnot is what my 9-5 is for.

In a deregulated world where businesses rule, this will be more common. The system known as FASCISM.

PC's with that CPU were OK about 12 years ago... If this is a new setup with an "original" chinese mobo it is even worse than having a second hand one after corporate use.

Chinese cheaptech is always the problem.

This almost makes me glad I never worked in tech.

Put that thing in the trunk of your car, use it as a roadside hazard warning light for vehicle breakdowns.... Do you garden? It might keep the vermin out of your vegetable patch, & the glass would actually be useful for once, as rain proofing. I'd caulk the seams

The last time I wanted a new desktop, I took the old case I already had, put an upgraded, but used power supply in it, then bought off ebay a "New, Open Box" MSI i7, 1155 socket MoBo for $25 off ebay, scrounged an i7 CPU for, I don't know, $30 -$50 or something, one of the faster 28-nanometer gen... then off ebay aagin, a bench tested MSI/ATI graphics board, one of the big ones, that takes two full-width mobo slots, with new, RAM and a 60 GB SSi boot drive, plus a 1Tb HDD, I don't think I had $500 in the whole deal, and it still runs just fine, maybe 10 years later, don't even remember....

And you are SO right: the few times I ever had issues, MSI tech support was right

I'm not surprised. However, I've seen a lot of older machines have very few to no bios update options. to my dismay a family member bought an ibuy power machine for someone and I don't think this is exactly the case anymore because when I looked into directions about updating since this was a 14th gen i7 that they have four different mb manufacturers depending upon which variation of the pre-build you bought which are the ones we use nowadays. I'm not giving these brands the benefit of the doubt. I still really dislike pre-built machines except maybe Dell. But I absolutely hate it when I even come across machines from 2014 or 2015 where options for these sorts of things are still very limited

That's what you get for a cheapass generic "noname" pre-built PC

looks like a prebuilt pc hp bios. Where do you get by googling the bios version?

If the thing has SecureBoot, you might be dealing with expired OEM keys. I had that happen in an Asus board once, but at least in those boards you can update the firmware or manually sign the os (first option is obviously better). Does that thing have SecureBoot and, if it does, does turning it off help? Most boards will print an error message for that but, given the obvious lack of quality on that machine, perhaps they didn't bother to include the error messages along with no ability to update the stupid thing.

I already know you're gonna hate them, but what are your thoughts on Beelink Mini PC's? I got a couple just for fun and they seem OK, but I don't really see much support on their site for BIOS or driver updates. At least they do use name brand drives and memory, mine are all Crucial.
