The editor missed the perfect oppurtunity to put the pool of forgetfullness as number 3 and number 1

Awesome list! Actually I think I may have another one. In fallout 4. When you’re clearing out all of the junk in the caves of vault 88, you’ll finally run into a little mini store that’s next to University point. Inside of the Store there is a room that is just blocked up by debris. However if you look very closely there is a white statue that’s buried in the dirt and there’s a creepy eyeball just sticking out of the thing. It has a captains hat and it’s really terrifying lol 😂.

You've put Army Men in the list, and it brought me the best memories ever. I have Army Men 2 for PC and though I can't play it due to the newest technologies, I still remember the great times I had playing it, and Sarge's Heroes as well.

There is a Steam game called The Mean Greens, which is totally a spiritual successor of the Army Men series. It's low on players, but still quite fun to play once in a while!

For the Pool of Forgetfulness in Morrowind, maybe it actually does do something, but after the players use it and see whatever it does, they forget.

The pool of forgetfulness and we forgot is a great explanation if you ask me 😂

In one of the old counterstrike maps...(forest maybe?), after you died you could move through a certain wall and find a room that had a bunch of rats chanting and worshipping a picture of someone. Super creepy and unexpected!

Number 3. Level designers often put character models in the level they are working on to have a sense of both things... So that players can walk through doorways, so that objects relative to a person are the correct size etc. After the work on the level ends, the model is removed.

Always nice to see the tradition of leaving weird silliness in games and never explaining them continues to thrive today. Thanks, Falcon, for passing on the torch.

The 'why' for the creepy Sonic CD screen, I believe, is that it is an anti-piracy screen that would display if your copy of the game was obtained illegally and it can be accessed solely coincidentally using inputs on the sound test screen. That's the best explanation I've ever found for it. A very long time ago when I went on a spree of downloading various roms, the first one I downloaded for Sonic CD only loaded that screen and didn't accept any controller inputs, so for me it checks out.

I know one.. although I think it was meant to be found. There is a mission in Metal Gear Solid 5 where you can enter a tent. There is a radio playing which goes on about murders of a family. Its straight out if the PT demo. Very creepy Kojima was working on both mg v and pt around the same time

There's only one Easter egg I'd leave if I was a developer....Jake Baldino's smiling face

I think the Shadow of the Colossus one is meant to be the model for the character in the end cutscenes. Why it's there, even in a demo, is likely because they just forgot to remove it

You made a pretty good list of these Easter eggs but you forgot 1. The Boss room screams in splatoon that shit gives me the chills everytime i hear it

I remember playing Oblivion on 360 and there was a cool hidden area you could access by downloading the Wizards Tower DLC. You went to the top floor of the tower where the garden was, stood in the middle of the garden, saved, then exited out and deleted the DLC. When you went back in a loaded the game you spawn in a building that looks like its from Bruma. You walk outside and its a small village with a fire pit in the center and everything else past the village is just empty space. The coolest thing is that there is a mace you can pick up in the fire pit that deals fire damage and it just shows up as a green box in your inventory.

Trepang 2 had a full blown back rooms level in its early beta, you had to beat the survival mode and it took you there. I was genuinely upset they took it out. Glad its still in the game but tbey really should make it a playable level

8:55 As someone that played Sonic CD and looked into why they put that screen in there. The common speculation is that it was there to scare-off pirates. So Basically, it was a anti-piracy screen thing.

I don't know who or why that Easter Egg exists in Green Army Men. But I do know, from actually working at 3DO around the same time, that the company had a very strict 'No Easter Eggs' policy. And they were serious about it. If that was discovered while the company was still in business, whoever placed it there probably got terminated. Swiftly.
