To cure the crackling - Turning off the surround sound option on windows sound properties helps, also set audio to headphones on the game settings and lowering the master volume there too to about 85 - 90. GOG recommends 16bits at 48000 e.g. DVD quality setting.

Thanks mate, the 2nd option (changing the Format/Quality) solved it for me, no more cracking sound!

no good. nothing on the internet I found fixed the issue. also the issue I have is kind of weird, first of all the sound is crackling when it's there but most of the time there's no sound. Second there's no dialogue but I can hear sometimes how random NPCs speaking and also when they speaking that's only not no sound the lips are not moving as well so maybe it's something else with the game itself and not the settings

My game audio worked fine and then out of no where it became super choppy. Every time I open the game straight from the loading screen its choppy. None of these steps worked and my audio works fine with other games

i tried both ways still makes sound. goes away when restarting game but when i pause it and its pause for more than 10 seconds it starts making that static noise. sounds like a clunky hard drive spinning up. it will go off when going back into game but will eventually get worse and voices are all crackling as well. i got a corsair void headset but will not let me change the hz. there's two options but non makes a difference.

This did not work for me. Let me describe my problem. Imagine walking into Lizzie’s bar and seeing people dancing but hearing no music but your footsteps almost echo. The first thing I tried was updating my drivers with driver booster. I then tried my monitor speakers rather then my headset with the same problem. I changed the Hz still no change. I tried a few other things but nothing seems to work. This may not be game breaking but it is immersion breaking. If anyone can think of a fix that would be great but at this point I hope the next update fixes it.

This worked for me but only temporarily. After a few hours of gameplay the problem resurfaced.

I will try rebooting my system and if that doesn't work I'll try using a different audio device.

I am having problems with no music or npc sound

I plug in my headphones through an xbox controller that I have plugged into my pc and it won't let me change my bit rate; the drop down menu is locked. Am I just screwed if I want to use my headphones through my xbox controller? The chord doesn't reach me from my pc header.

I'm using a HyperX Cloud Alpha headset and my only 2 options here are 2Channel, 16 bit, 1600Hz and 2Channel, 16 bit, 1600Hz (Tape recorder quality). Can't fix the issue

I use wired headphones plugged into my xbone controller on pc. I cannot change the kHz, as they're locked at 48. I presume, because windows recognizes the headphones through the controller? Whatever the cause, the option is greyed out, and cannot be changed from 48kHz. Its not bluetooth. Its a jack

I use the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 headphones. It won't let me change the audio settings. It's set on 48000 Hz. All my drivers are up to date.

I have an issue where the audio is fine but for some reason it will not record, my other games work and I tried 2 pieces of recording software. Do you have any advice?

My sound works fine on every game except cyberpunk it's choppy and crackling nothing worked all my driver's are up to date
