I think people should look into ECE 22.05 or 06 instead of DOT, since its way better

ECE 22.06 is the new standard for helmet homologation. We also have FIM homologation for helmets but it's mostly for Professional riders.

Jeans are not protective gear. Even the ones that are Kevlar aren’t protective enough. Do yourself a favor and get some leather pants, I low sided at 55 in the mountains and my leather pants saved me from going to the hospital. I slid for a little less than a hundred feet and I was lucky to only have a sprained wrist. Pants are more important than jackets in my opinion, the majority of motorcycle injuries are to the legs and feet.

Please don't wear regular jeans. They seem like they're protective, but I've been down in them and they rip right off.
