Our champion, the one month of the year that we think it's best to travel to Machu Picchu is June. Why June? It's got the best weather next to July and its attendance on average is a lot less than it would be in July. Sure, the prices are still within that high season, but you get the best of what we think are the most important middle to lower crowds and no rain.

Whoa, you said less people is 2500 a day! Right now, during/post covid there's a 500/day limit by the Peruvian Gov. for Machu Picchu!

I'm looking to do the Inca Trail - so less rain but also not as hot would be great for several days hike/camping. I just got all of Thanksgiving week off but I'm afraid it's late in November when rainy season starts. How bad is the rain in that period? Are we talking all day, downpours or more of a couple hours of rain and rest ok?

A friend of mine is in Peru right now. He says the guides are telling him Machu Picchu will be closed to tourists from March 2020 onwards?
I know in Feb 2020 they plan to close it for a month, other than that, not sure...
