The Japanese make similar, Yaki Onigiri with left over rice, (made without Flour on both sides), however brushed with a little Soy sauce on both sides and pan toasted in Triangular shapes...💗

You know how I make crispy rice?! After it’s finished cooking in the old-school rice cooker and the button pops up, I stir the rice then let it sit for a few minutes to let some moisture out. Then I push the button back down so it’s on “cook” instead of “warm”, and after it pops up, it’s lightly crispy. Then I flip it and repeat, then flip it and spread the rice around so it all gets crispyfied and continue to repeat. The more you flip it and hit the button, the crispier it gets!
I’ll start the rice first, then do this while I’m cooking the rest of dinner so it’s fresh, crispy rice by the time everything else is ready. I’ll throw leftover rice in there too and it still turns out awesome!No oil or extra starches needed, and it gets C-R-I-S-P-Y! It stays crunchy and is delicious with dishes that are saucy, and I love to make it with my kalbi short ribs and cabbage!! Then eat it with my hands!😋 🤤 🖐🏼
If you do fry it in a pan, also try it using some sesame oil for extra yumminess!

Crispy rice is a common thing in irainian style of cooking rice 😂. When we want to cook rice we add a little water and oil at the bottom of the pot you can add saffron for the scent and color too then we add half cooked drained rice and let it cook. After the rice is ready there will be a thin crispy layer at the bottom of it too. Also you can add other stuff like a bit egg and yogurt or pour some sesame on the pot before you add rice. You can also use a very thin bread or thin slices of potato. instead of crispy rice you'll have crispy bread or potatoes.
