I'd say those are definitely rice cakes but not mochi, mochi is really specific to glutinous rice

As a japanese I'm pissed how "professionals" here make false comments like "mochi is from flour" or "mochi is for deserts" or whatever. Why this channel's comment section is so mean to her, there's nothing wrong with getting inspired by other food culture and making your own recipe.

Reminds me of idli, it's an Indian dish made with rice but is steamed and had with chutneys and a spicy sour stew called sambar

Wow, I'm getting so many ideas. What if you mix it with a chicken broth some sliced green onions little bit of butter etc for a savory taste. For a dessert, mix it with some condensed milk, little bit of water, cinnamon and fried in butter and maybe sprinkle it with some cinnamon as well. Just throwing it out there people. 😲

U can blend it and add flour, slices of onion, potato or add chilies and salt. Then fried it and deep with chilies sauce

I just made rice flatbread using 1 part hot water, 1 part dry rice flour, and 2 parts regular flour. Flatten with rolling pin and fry them in butter and dash with flaky sea salt!!! So good!!!

made these this morning, they were pretty good! I had to use a little more water to get then to stick together, but the texture was good and they were great with some soy sauce.

There’s a ton of rice recipes that involves using cooked rice, like goheimochi. I can imagine a Japanese family making this kind of version, maybe like their own family recipe. Nice way to use leftover rice!

My go to sauce for this is a soysauce water mix with garlic, ginger, sambal olek and a little bit of sugar. I mix in a litte cornstarch so it forms a nice glossy sauce.
With that i also toss in chinese cabbage with it and its amazing
