It's a pity they don't show devices connected by network; i.e. Ethernet, 5GHz or 2.4GHz. I want to know if my Sky box is talking on Ethernet and not WiFi. BT have done this for years.

Hi good video, I got smart plugs that need 2.4ghz, but 5ghz keeps popping up I'm on sky, so can I turn off the 5ghz so I only got 2.4 thanks for your time

Hello Mr Techtalk, looking to do the following but have no idea how to do this. any ideas? Sky Q Router Sky Q main 2TB box and 3 mini boxes. Plus google WIFI for Xbox online gaming.
Ideally want to use the sky router wireless mesh for the Sky Q and most other wireless devices but not the 2 X Xbox's, those need to go on the Google WIFI without double NAT. Found this but doesn't make any sense to me. An idiots guide would be great. I have Sky Q and Google Wifi too. I managed to get round the double NAT issue by setting a fixed WAN IP in Google Wifi (192.168.0.x), reserving the same IP in the Sky router admin portal and then turning off DHCP on the Sky Q. Next, set the Google Wifi primary point (using the IP address that you've assigned it) as a DMZ server in the Sky router - this ensures all external traffic can get to Google Wifi without being "interfered with" by the Sky router. Hey presto, no double NAT and no breach of Sky Ts & Cs.
For bonus points, I wanted to carry on using the Sky Q wifi for the Q box connectivity (I've got a 1tb and a mini). Main reason for doing so was so that the Q wifi handles all traffic for TV, and Google Wifi handles everything else. This was simple, I just needed to reserve IP addresses for my two Q boxes in the Sky router admin and then assign the selected IP addresses in the Q STB setup pages, in the (IIRC) Advanced Networking section (something like "Manually assign IP address") - make sure you select the correct subnet. Only downside is that I can't access the Q boxes through the Q app when I'm on Google Wifi, but this doesn't bother me too much as I don't tend to use the app.

you can change the default password back by hard reset the hub like with any router

hi, im buying a secondhand sky Q hub (router) tomorrow and i need to know if i will be able to access the settings the same way you did....i, am currently with sky and have the sky fibre max package, will it show up as a sky Q hub on the access page or do i need to inform sky i have bought a used router to upgrade my hub...the reason i ask is i will need to disable the sky shield, can i access the sky shield as normal as with my old sr102 router (hub)...will it show up as a Q hub or a sr102 still...thanks

Thanks for the review. One question though. How do I disable internet access to certain devices at certain times of the day? This can be very useful if wanted to stop our children from accessing the internet during the night. Many thanks.
