Fix Windows Explorer Slow Folder Loading Problems - Load Folders Faster 2017, 2020

Have problems with Windows 7 or Windows 8 where folders are slow to load and show files in folders. This tip to customize your system can speed up Windows folder load times so content in folders displays faster and you won't even lose your thumbnails.

You don't have to go folder by folder to change the folder type.

Thanks for the video! I tried this and after the restart, nothing changed. I'm still seeing the green bar and my file explorer never fully loads. If I try to delete or cut and paste more than 10 pictures at the same time, it wont take effect until I close and reopen the folder. Note: this issue has only ever seemed to happen in folders which contain more than 75 pictures. My other folders load fine. Any idea what might be going on?

I have a problem with file previews of the thumbnails
practically after a while the thumbnails are get reloaded all over again and in every folder I always have to wait for them to load, is there a way to solve the problem? it is stressful to always have to wait for the preview of a video or image or any content in a folder to be reloaded again and sometimes the preview disappears or I load a preview that is not his. I hope there is a solution to the problem I Have Windows 7 SP1 Professional 64 Bit

Does disabling the Windows Search Service disable the indexing or something? Wouldn't that cause you to be unable to search your folders with it disabled? Just curious.

MY LOCAL disk c loads faster and dont have any problems but e is sometimes good and some times not good. where as g and f drives take time to load..

now this problem is even more worrying me :

the files in e, g, f local drives are unable to move or copy to safer loaction. if is start cut/copy-paste operation the small size files are copying easily where as movie around 3gb are falling down to 0kbps after around 10 - 20 % copying is done.. i wait for it to still copy at that 0-10kbps speed later it says copying failed try again.
even if i try to play the movie it doesn't play it smoothly it gets stuck and play like bits and parts.

now should i try this method?? i don't think it resolves my problem. i think my hdd got burnt...


i need your suggestion before doing this step.. please help brother.

Every time I get frustrated and look this up, all I get is the standard reply to click the General category for contents (which doesn't work) and view in details. What about those of us who want thumbnails? This actually works! It even loads up thumbnails for PDFs (which have always been a problem for my laptop). Thank you so much!

Still works January 2020!!!! I'm honestly surprised. I just assumed my computer had a virus. It wasn't letting me make new folders, rename them, move things into/out of folders, etc. Sooo annoying, and I'm glad to be done with that! Thank you!

Did this but I'm still stuck at loading after restarting... This is the only folder in my drive that won't open... I can see the thumbnail on the folder but it won't let me in and after a while of waiting it'll ask me to "need format the disk in drive before you can use it" and of course I don't want to!! And when I tried to copy the file... it would just stop itself and nothing happens... and would give me another error with 'location not available'...Idk what to do anymore.. anyone can have solutions for this??please help me.

it is, now im unable to use any default windows app
e.g. PHOToS, MOVIES, GROOVE MUSIC, STORE and much more
