So... how often do you purge your book collection?

I try to not keep books at all if I won't reread them, but they do tend to build up before I remember to do anything with them!

I just did a big purge yesterday but really need to do more. Quarterly sounds like a great plan.

I've been purging for most of the year. Almost every time I buy new books I think of the ones that I've read and can stand to give away or sell.

I do a big purge probably twice a year. My last purge reduced me to three shelves including my unread books

I have a box in which I put all the stuff that I don't want anymore (also, non-book items) and when it's full it has to go.
Also, whenever I feel the need to rearrange my shelves I do a bigger purge, but that only happens like once a year or even less.

I buy a lot of books. I rarely re-read books. I usually do a purge twice a year - in June and November. I am thinking of doing some videos about the ones I am purging at the end of the month.

I used to buy a lot less books than I do now so I almost never purged, but I feel like this is going to be a yearly thing for me

I only buy those books that I have either read and LOVED thanks to my library or that are written by authors I read and LOVE. So I don't purge often. The last (and only?) time I purged my books was back about 10 or so years ago after my tastes changed from mysteries to urban fantasies. When I realized that my new love for all things paranormal was not a flash in the pan, I got rid of most of my mystery collection. It's been at least 12 years now since I discovered my first urban fantasy, and I don't see myself losing my interest any time soon, so I probably won't have another big purge for a few years, if ever. ;-)

After I finish a book, if I didn't enjoy it as much as I expected, and/or if I don't think I would reread it within the next 12 months, then I would donate it :)
