The biggest mistake I made was confusing cEDH with tEDH. I always wanted to play the most powerful stuff I could in EDH, but assumed the cEDH scene was basically just tournament-ready decks and assumed I would get absolutely stomped. When I realized I could play at a cEDH level without having to sweat at tournaments, I jumped right in. None of my deck would win a tournament, but I just couldn't stay at the casual level.

Our home group's scoop rule is to allow the scoop, but continue through the current turn as though they were still there with their permanents and all. Sometimes life happens, but if someone "needs to leave" in response to a dockside loop for example, we note the relevant game pieces and keep the loop going as if they were there. Same for keeping hand count consistent for things like Jeska's Will, etc.

Favorite MTG channel on all of the YouTube!!- I learn something new every time and you both have a great, welcoming nature. I’ve been playing CEDH for about 7 months and magic for about 1 year. Graduated right to the “hard stuff” and yall have undoubtedly made me better!

Love this video. The big selling point for me on cEDH was the 'we have an agreed pregame discussion' vibe of cEDH. I will never go to a CommandFest/MagicCon without at least one cEDH deck these days, as it's super refreshing to just embrace power and play from time to time, and I *love* a pregame conversation.

The entire opening where we are talking about "What cEDH is" I'm just expecting Cam or Dylan to be like "Play to Win!" since it's the name of the channel and they say it every video...and it never happens LOL Love you guys & this channel.

5:17 that's what Competitive means. Playing the most powerful things you can, as well as you can, and not holding anything back because one of the players at the table doesn't like infinite combos etc.

The competitive is shifting the focus from the social aspect of the format to the game aspect.

Great episode! I'm new to cEDH this year and this was a great listen. The only thing I would add on webcam games is having tokens, dry erase tokens or post it notes and black sharpie on hand for when your opponent interact with your board, ex Swan Song and you need to represent a 2/2 bird. Also having a clear way to represent your mana pool and cards in hand on camera, high contrast dice colors, will give players that info without having to ask.

I recently started playing cEDH with some friends. I have learned and gotten motivation mostly from this channel, so thank you guys for what you do!

When I was deciding deck I saw Dargo and immediately fell in love with the card, so I built a Dargo-Thrasios. It's a blast to play!

Seriously fantastic podcast episode. I've dipped my toes in CEDH in my set pod but am so nervous to do a local LGS tournament. 100% taking these resources, updating my lists, and giving it a go now.

(Looks at my 3-year old Scion of the Ur-Dragon list)

One day boy-o... one day

Jokes aside, thank you for yet another in-depth discussion about this format! The first video I saw from you guys had Scion in the spotlight and I remember how ecstatic I felt to see it played! It was the first casual commander I ever attempted to bring to the CEDH scene. I hope to revive it one of these days.

CEDH is like driving in the left lane, sometimes the right lane "can be faster" but it's about the intention - left lane is for people who have a destination and are doing everything they can to get there

Great video. Thoroughly enjoyed the information and knowledge put together in one place. Explaining the combos was great.

Gitaxian probe specifically is in an interesting spot. Gitaxian probe says you look at player's hand, not that they reveal it so while they can't say "I don't have this card" that you saw they don't have to admit to having the card either since that would be giving information to two players who didn't see the card

I started cEDH not long ago, and have played about 50-100 games in that time. I have almost exclusively played Urza, Lord High Artificer. I agree with the advice of proxying a strong deck to learn the format. It literally requires an entire different perception and mentality to learn compared to normal EDH. It has warped my entire view of what cards are good and not good. Like in bloomburrow, the most exciting card for me was Into the Flood Maw. I can’t go back to casual anymore.

Bonus Thought: cEDH eliminates the awkward social queues you have to worry about in normal games. Love everyone being on the same page.

I'm making a Marwyn deck. It mostly presents a win T3, sometimes T2. It's bot wildly resilient, and will definitely never be top tier. But it can't just be ignored at the table.
It lets me play along without mortgaging my house further lol.
