1 in 3 black Americans knows "someone" who has died from covid. So the person they know who died could be any race? Which would mean that roughly 30% of the black population knows someone that died due to covid. Is this counting the dead per individual or can 5 people know one person that died?

Let's say she is referring to 1 in 3 knowing a black person that died of covid and that it's 1 for 1 meaning each person knows a different person that died. That would mean that 25 percent of the black population in America died. That can't be right though.

And why is it that the black population has such a massive death count from this?
