Fun fact: Odin hanging himself is the inspiration behind the tarot card the hanged man because it represents sacrifice and wisdom just like Odin did when he went to the tree to study the nine realms

You should really make a video about Tyr, the most underrated Norse deity.

Getting into Vikings right now and wanted to look into Norse mythology more so I'm loving this already

Odin is honestly the best head god of any mythology. He seems very chill and just wants to learn more about the various things in the world. He seems like he would be very nice to talk with.

You never mentioned his spear, Gungnir.
And I would like request videos on Fafnir and Surtr.

It's interesting to see how many elements of fantasy and sword and sorcery stories, like giants, elves and magic, can be found in mythology.

He represents pursuit of knowledge, wisdom, intelligence, and will to stop the ultimate doom, the ragnarok.

Yes, more Norse mythology pretty please. Also exploring Celtic mythology gods and creatures would be sweet too such as the Kelpie, Will-O-Wisp, Morrigan the crow goddess of doom and fate, etc.

I love how mortal the Norse Aesir are. Like it's saying that no matter who or what, all that begins will end and vice versa

The Aesir didn't lose, it was more like a stalemate, Fenrir got killed by Víðar, Jormugandr and Thor killed eachother, Heimdall and Loki killed eachother, and in the end Surtr burned everything, but underneath the world tree the gods had hidden a means of repopulating the world again, the surviving Aesir where Magni and Modi, Víðarr and Baldr, who returned from the underworld, there was a 5th survivor, but I don't remember who.

200 that we know of. The All-Father is said to have more names than there are winds in a hurricane and possess more titles than there are ways for a man to die. He's Odin, Woden, Wotan, Grimnir, Mr. Wednesday, the Gallows God, the All-Father, the One-Eyed King, Lord of Asgard, the Hanged Man of the Tarot, son of Bor and Bestla, Grandson of Buri the first God, and he's the original Santa Claus, among a mountain of other things.

It's cool to see so many people wanting to learn more about Norse mythology because of God of War.

I enjoyed this.

One thing to understand about the Old Norse religion:
The Old Norse religion is not one set religion with a basic set of morals, laws, or beliefs for that matter. We know a lot about Old Norse and yet we know very little as generally each Jarldom, Kingdom, etc had their own iteration of the religion with perhaps a slightly different story. This is because the Old Norse religion isnt based off of a book like Christianity. It is only stories and "fish tales" happen. The Sami people might have believed something differently from their neighbors whilst still believing in the same God's.

They all stem from the Proto-Germanic "Old Norse" religion however.

A God who sacrificed his life then his eye for knowledge, seems like a descent man. I look forward to dining with the hooded one in Valhalla

This is what I am called. I am called Glad-O-War, Grim, Raider, and Third. I am One-eyed. I am also called Highest, and True-Guesser. I am Grimnir, and the Hooded One. I am All-Father, Gondlir, Wand-bearer. I have as many names as there are winds. As many titles as there are ways to die. My ravens are Huginn and Muninn. Thought and Memory. My wolves are Freki and Geri. My horse is the gallowed. I am Odin!
