My loss, your gain. Hopefully you can learn something from my mistakes in this video. When purchasing a battery, always make sure you get a Leafspy readout on the cell balancing and SOH. You will thank yourself.

many times I've had repaired cells in new ze1 leafs with leakage from the corners, the cells have really bad hermetization and in 99.9% cases they are quickly repaired by proper sealant. So I insist on disassembling the pack and see what is going on with P0AA6. Anyway everything is going on for the greater good!))

Cheer up Dala! It is going to be a great content, looking forward to see videos about "healing" and bringing this battery to life.

Love the fact the 30kWh battery has the "don't put in a wheelie bin" symbol. Good advice, I got loads of grief from the dust men last time I tried that ;)

Don't give up. The battery can be fixed. Rustproofing battery and car is a great idea. I had my 2012.09 Leaf fully coated with Mercasol when it was new. After over 60000km in just over 1, 5 years the underside still looked new. (South-West coast of Norway..) Now there is a lot of Gen 1 Leafs that are being crushed here as they have been used up. Batteries with 3-5 bars, no brakes, fully worn out suspensions, etc.. Soon the Gen1 Leafs will be no more.

Hi Dala, no luck this time but keep in mind you are doing a so great job that help all of us. Maybe, could swap good cells from the 40 to the bad 62. Why not? Hope you will find a solution, I'm sure you will because we are wainting for the CCS joke, just putting some pressure.
Thanks for everything you share with us. Keep your good attitude, make the world a little bit better.

9:02 from leafspy it shows 4 cells, if the layout in bms is kept the same then cells 1-48 is rear stacks. in 64kwh pack there are 4 towered stacks in rear. The faulty ones are in the first stack then.. the good news is that unlike the 24kwh pack - faulty ones cant push on everything when expanding. Only their tower.
So if you can source one good rear towerstackj, it can be replaced :)
Did the pack have any dents in it? Or maybe marks undenting.. as it's the first pack - it might be some collision damage that some corner hit the tower of cells.

I'm sorry to hear about your pain, Dala! This is real life, and sometimes we don't get to use shortcuts. This 62kWh battery upgrade is one that many people will seriously consider, which is realistically a dependency before it's worth it going ahead with any CSS-related mods. On the bright side, it makes for excellent video material! :-)

Hope you get good luck next time. A lesson to learn for all of us when buying refurbished batteries. Your videos are a great help for us. Maybe this is why repackaging is sometimes better than to get these refurbished OEM ones. With repackaging you can get newer cell chemistries like NCM811 and you know the condition those cells are in. Plenty of space for even more than 62kWh as new cells like NCM811 has higher energy densities than OEM Nissan ones. Then it all comes down to how you mount the cells/modules securely and distribute weight like in OEM modules. There's space for liquid cooling/heating even if you use 355 modules.

I’m sorry for you. 😔
But happy I can follow you even longer down the battery-rabbit hole😊😊

Thank you Dala for walking us through this painful lesson. I was just weighing whether or not to have a used 62 kWh battery installed and now I am thinking the better of it.

It's always the way when you're attempting to do the impossible, that you will have setbacks. Take encouragement from the fact that you have managed to fit the battery into the car in the first place. I'm sure you will find cells to replace the broken ones or another battery. As we say in up'.

A mere battery will not defeat Dala the Great! Hope you find the problem quickly and easy to fix.. we always learn something from your pain.. thanks for sharing!

Really nice rustproofing Dala. Sorry to hear about the cells. If the module can't be fixed, keep an eye out, one will turn up, or find another whole bad 62 pack. Then you're the guy in Europe with spare 62 modules! In my stationary storage, I have 2x 7s modules from a 62kWh pack (not sure if shipping is worth it or possible, but I would send if you need, I guess they're in good condition). But it looks like you need a 9s module.

We live in New Hampshire. Rust is a major issue here, too. FWIW your videos are helping me to navigate the tricky purchase of a used Leaf with a plan to improve the battery. I have great confidence you will bounce back from this challenging set back.

Sorry for your pain Dala. Sometimes bad things happen to good people.Sorry again. 40 goes back in while you source parts to repair your 62. Once you confirm what has failed, and what you need to get it going again, I am sure people will come forward with the parts you need. Perseverance prevails.
