Ukrainian pilots filmed in daring low-flying manouevres

Ukrainian pilots have been seen flying so low that they skim the top of trees in footage that shows how they use their expert skills to evade Russian surface-to-air missiles.

The Ukrainians have not been the first to show off low-flying aircraft caught on film during this conflict, as the Russians have been seen using the tactic as well.

I grew up in Germany, and I remember well the helicopters groups that used to pass our village in the early 80th: they were often flying at 50-80 meters height. Sometimes in groups of 10-15 helicopters. But actually, I do not see a safety problem on this. The terrains is rather flat (like in Ukraine), few obstacles have more than 10-12 meters.

The SU-25T also known as the "Frogfoot" is basically the A-10 of the Russians, Its a Air to Ground Jet which can carry a lot of A/G (Air to Ground) ordinance and some A/A (air to air) ordinance, its a slow flying jet and can take out enemy SAM (Surface to Air Missile) sites with ease. Makes absolute sense why the Russians and Ukrainian are using them. I hope that in these difficult time for Ukraine, The Conflict ends quickly and painlessly without losing more people.

Would bring a tear to an RAF fighter's eye.

The SU-25 'Frogfoot' is the Russian/Ukrainian type of aircraft which is heavily armed with various types of rockets and guns for infantry troop support that flies low and slow. It is not a bomber or interceptor aircraft like the SU-34 & 35.

Currently, the most daring low-flying manouevre is to fly over a Russian armoured vehicle. Not because it exposes you to AA fire, but because there's always a Ukrainian drone hovering nearby to drop munition or direct artillery fire right on top of said vehicle.

Interesting to see that exactly 40 years after the Falklands war this tactic is still relevant, since this is the way Argentina's pilots sank quite a few British ships

Fighter pilots do that all the time in Nevada. Flying low over a highway makes tracking them on radar much more difficult.

These tactics leave the air defence system operators wondering if their systems are still working, after the low flying aircrafts hit targets 🤣

And Ukraine could use more jets. Someone just needs to figure out the logistics of transporting those jets from Poland via ground transport into Ukraine.

Flying low still won’t stop a starstrek. Go get the low flying Russian aircraft

Mean while ex buccaneer pilots are getting nose bleeds wondering how Ukrainian pilots can fly so high at 100ft

How much fighting can you do at that height? Are you attacking / fighting or are you evading when flying at these heights?

The clumsy way the Russians planned this astounds me. I flew Fighters during the Cold War and the first plan of battle was for German, British and American aircraft to be disbursed along highways with fuel, weapons an maintainers. I've landed on the Autobahn many times. Even here, part of the reason for building the Interstate system was to provide alternate runways. The Russians come in and bomb the airfields like idiots. They had to know this. After more than a month they still do not have air superiority and the Ukrainians still have an air force.

That drone shot down was something else.

This is what is hampering the Ukrainians from forcefully taking back the occupied land --a robust AF that can push forward with SEAD/DEAD and CAS missions to chew up russian ground units.
NO DOUBT the Ukrainian crews are courageous and are doing what they can with what they have, but with no air dominance by either side the ground battles just degenerate into these 'gladitorial' matches.
Western forces have got to figure out a way to help create 'mobile' air dominace (temporary airspace control so CAS units can blast the russians before withdrawing and moving to another 'box') and keep the russian off-balance/guessing.
